Throw in some proliferate to make more use of those counters, and often get a little utility alongside it.

I could throw in a Contagion Engine or Contagion Clasp , I did not even think about it because proliferate belongs to blue usually. Thanks for the reminder.

Now I got the Contagion Engine in for a Glistening Oil , I figure the Glistening Oil has recursion so two should be good. I could always go look for it if need be.

Have you thought of adding some Skinrender s? It seems like a 3/3 that takes control of target creature with 3 toughness or less if you have necroskitter out is pretty good.

I used to use him, then for some reason I just kind of got rid of him. It is a nice card. At the end of tweaking this deck I realized my problem was not getting -1/-1 counters on creatures. It had to do with getting the combo to work, its hard to get and keep Necroskitter alive. The first time I started playing with the deck I got away with it, but my group learned real quick to kill Necroskitter and fast as possible.

HAHHA,Thanks Hoppipolla. I love wither too, its the better version compared to using poison or infect. I don't cheaply kill my opponents just there creatures, sadly not many people appreciate wither. I have this deck stored away until the combo of cards can bring it to light once again.

I like your deck, it would be very interesting to see it in play. I love Blowfly Infestation. It deff. rocks!

@pyroboy4203: Thanks, its a great to play wither. There is just one problem, the deck is inconsistent. Its a heavy combo piece deck that can be taken apart easily, I have this deck in exile until the day comes when I have the right cards and synergy.

When the deck does get all its pieces it runs so well and you can literally steal everything, while killing everyone's creatures. In a multiplayer setting this deck has a 50/50 shot. It actually does a whole lot better one on one, then you can see it shine. I am waiting patiently for Wizard to give wither a shot so I can make it more fun in multiplayer.

On the side note, Blowfly Infestation is a dangerous card, even with just one copy it can get ridiculous quick...which is why I love it of course.

@Gorm: Thanks for the suggestion. Grim Poppet is nice, but its card you would want to abuse. If I could combo abuse it, then yes it would be great. I like Virulent Wound, but there is not enough infect to make it worth it.

I feel like infect made wither even worse, I will keep hoping for some kind of revival of this great mechanic. Or at least a mechanic that lets wither shine.

@obitus : Well, its not really Combo, but have a look at Torture or Carnifex Demon ;)The Synergy is great and Carnifex is better against black decks than Midnight Banshee.( Carnifex Demon + Grim Poppet )

I was once had two Carnifex Demon in the deck, I would just board wipe everyone...those were dark times.

The challenge with making a wither deck relevant is not really the main focus of the deck but what supporting cast to make with it.

I'm attempting to run a red/black deck with Phyrexian Obliterator as one of my featured go to's.

I have many filter lands, dual lands and two urborg to make up for the only black mana cost.

Obliterators ability with side cards like corrosive mentor and necroskitter are amazing.

I'll let you know where it goes because I broke my cinder deck to do it.

True, but the point is I had not found supporting cards to make it as good as it should be.

Plus its hard to keep it under budget, I could easily just add some nice cards in here.

It's me again. How would a deck with both wither and infect work. cause I made one here

@Bobby654: If you make a deck with wither and infect there is only one problem.

Your win condition is split, if you attack with wither against an opponent its regular damage. If you attack with infect then its poison damage. Attacking against a creature, all of it is wither damage (or at least acts like wither).

So you have to watch out which version your using. It is not really too problematic, but it will slow you down.
