Twilight Mire was originally in the deck but taken out because I took out Bow of Nylea and no longer needed GG. I definitely would not put in 4 (I've been in the place of opening hand Woodland Cemetery and Twilight Mire) but two is a possibility. Maybe even just one. I'll look into it.

Scavenging ooze can exile from opponent's grave, which is good against decks that use their grave alot. Since you've got a bunch of stuff dying, have you tried Dictate of Erebos? Even more incentive not to block.

Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos have definitely been considered. The one problem I was having with them was the CMC. With Smallpox being 4 in the deck I do not usually get to keep a lot of mana, and if I do I'm probably flooded and losing anyway. I have also tried to get Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to work in the deck, but I need to keep colored mana as much as possible. This means I'd probably need to bring in Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth which isn't consistent being that I can't fetch for it. All in all I guess it seemed like it would take too much to try and make it work. Also in trying to playtest Grave Pact I tended to keep my mana for my destruction spells or using it for Liliana of the Veil or Smallpox itself. It continued to be a dead card so I stopped using it. Thanks for looking and the suggestion!

Okay, I get that. Only other thing you might consider is running Golgari rot farm. It helps with mana, and you can bounce itself back when you play it to abuse ghast's landfall. I realize that's kind of gimmicky though, and you may value the faster mana you have.

Thanks for that suggestion. I hadn't considered finding a land to abuse for Bloodghast. However the one problem with it is it is almost a dead land being that I don't play Amulet of Vigor. I do run 8 fetchlands which does help. Thanks for the thougt of trying to find something to abuse for Bloodghast though. I'm not exactly sure what is in black or green other than Golgari Rot Farm, but I'll take a look.

Leyline of the Void would give you some serious problems, I'd have some enchantment removal sideboarded for that. Otherwise, it seems good to me. Good idea, using graveyard to battlefield cycling though.

ComboCrazy first off thanks for looking and glad you like the deck!
Secondly I do have Golgari Charm and Maelstrom Pulse in the sideboard. I usually always try to fit in one Maelstrom Pulse game two just in case of Rest in Peace or Leyline of the Void. However, do you have any other possible card suggestions for the sideboard? Especially for cards like Leyline of the Void. I know it probably needs some work.

Pheardemons ah yes. Didn't reallize that said permanent. My bad. Yes, there actually is one more card I would definitely add, and that's Drudge Skeletons. Or maybe a Skeletal Wurm if you're looking for something a little higher up on the curve. They're both regenerate-able for 1 mana and are REALLY annoying for an opponent to deal with, trust me, I've fought decks that run stuff like this. Not fun for an opponent to try to take out.

ComboCrazy Thanks for the suggestions.
Drudge Skeletons is probably the only card I would consider between the two. Mana curve and all that, however Drudge Skeletons has the same problem as all of my creatures, Path to Exile. Exiling stops all of my creatures and main theme of the deck. I'd probably stick with the creatures I have now. I do agree regenerate is an annoying mechanic to fight against, but my creatures can be reanimated, therefore even better combo with my cards like Liliana of the Veil and Smallpox. Thanks for the thought though!

Yeah I do see the problem you would face with Path to Exile. If you were running white, I would suggest Pull from Eternity, but you don't really have much of a way to deal with it other than a Lifeforce + Painter's Servant combo, which isn't totally worth adding. Also just playtested it, and it works SO WELL!!! So well, actually, I'm actually considering using this as a base for a deck I was working on before. This deck is pretty op, all things considered. Great job on this.

ComboCrazy Thanks man! Really excited someone likes this deck.
Definitely let me know when your deck is created. I'd love to take a look at it and see what you do differently. If Amulet Bloom gets banned this ban cycle (which a lot of people have whined and cried about it so it probably won't make it another year), this is the deck I'm going to start using as a main deck. I really want to get reanimate (not Gifts Ungiven) and/or mill in modern. Thanks for looking man!

You're certainly welcome! You've built a great deck here. Do you mean that you would want to build a mill, or you already have one? COUGH COUGH Glimpse the Unthinkable COUGH COUGH

If your issue is mainly with white control, you might consider Asceticism/Privileged Position in sideboard. Both are are 5 drops and have at least GG in mana, but if removal is THAT annoying you might consider it. Privileged also stops your opponent from killing Bitterblossom/land if they're that much of a jerk too. Alternativley, you can put in a sac enginer like Disciple of Griselbrand to sac in response to targeting and get them off the field. Not ideal, but an option.

Red_X - I have yet to take this deck to an FNM because I've been trying to play amulet bloom before it gets banned (I'm assuming it will be), but the next FNM I am able to make it to that allows proxies I'm going to use it. However, usually Path to Exile is really the only problem I've dealt with playing anyone (mostly tabletop or sidegames that didn't matter). However I do like the suggestions in case I run into that problem. Thanks very much!

Red_X and ComboCrazy I had a quick question for you guys,
I was debating about taking out one Abrupt Decay for one Maelstrom Pulse. My thought process was it can seriously help with token decks, and obviously anything above 3 CMC (cough cough Leyline of the Void). Obivously Abrupt Decay can't be countered which seriously helps against control decks not to mention Deceiver Exarch and Pestermite against Splinter Twin decks. Also I was also debating of putting the land count down to 20 and adding in one more Liliana of the Veil, Bitterblossom, or Quest for the Gravelord. I haven't had a problem with land and I have Smallpox so I am weary about bringing it down, but it was a thought.
Also any suggestions for the sideboard would be greatly appreciated. I feel like it needs some serous work. Sk0oMa and RedJokr if yal have any suggestions for this deck that would be appreciated too!

Oh, man. 21 land is pretty low as it is; I wouldn't take anything out land-wise. As for Abrupt Decay and Maelstrom Pulse, I would actually substitute out 2 of Go for the Throat for 2 Maelstrom Pulse and keep the Abrupt Decay, because most combo pieces cost less than 3 mana CMC. And WHERE is that Bogbrew Witch

Pheardemons says... #18
ComboCrazy yea that's what I was thinking for with the lands. Especially with Smallpox. It was just a thought.
For Maelstrom Pulse really? I understand combo pieces are usually 3 or less but creatures aren't always in that category. Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Primeval Titan (even though amulet bloom will probably get banned this next cycle), Griselbrand, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger and all that. I wanted an instant speed removal that I got to choose what died (Smallpox obviously my opponent chooses so the creature I would want usually will never die with that unless it is the only one). Do you really think the sorcery speed AND higher CMC are worth for Maelstrom Pulse over Go for the Throat? Just curious as to your thought process on that switch.
LOL on the Bogbrew Witch. Bubbling Cauldron is there against burn because I can consistently bring my creatures back to keep sacrificing. Thought process anyway. Witch and Festering Newt are definitely made for other types of decks haha.

Well, I don't think that Maelstrom Pulse is even your best option. I would actually go with Beast Within, because it can destroy a permanent, but that's just my opinion.

I know you've already know about Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, but since you mention you have mana problems i would like to reccommend you try replacing the Woodland Cemetery with four copies of it. You already have fetchable green mana and having the option to tap your fetches for B is great for your deck since you wont have to pop them for mana and kan keep them til you have a Bloodghast in your graveyard. Monoblack 8-rack control always runs four copies of it and reactive versions also plays 4x Smallpox so you should be fine even with the land sacrifice. It would also allow you to consider utility or manlands.
I'd also like to reccomend already mentioned Become Immense. Even If you would not want to exile your graveyard your fethes and non-creature spells will pay the delve cost soon enough. It's instant speed so you could cast it on an unblocked creature. I bet your opponents sometimes let the Bloodghast slide, especially with the collar on. 1-2 copies should be enough as a late game finisher.
Lastly instead of having just a 2 cards in your sideboard for each deck archetype you face i would reccomend keeping the Surgical Extractions and making room for 4 Thoughtseize. Thoughtseize/Inquisition of Kozilek followed by Surgical Extraction slows almost every deck archetype which is good since you play beatdown, and combo deck such as Amulet Bloom or Twin wont stand a chance. This makes your sideboard more versatile making it easier to have an answer round two than if you just replaced two cards with special deck archetype hate.

Also, since someone mentioned Golgari Rot Farm i thought id mention Dakmor Salvage. It commes in to play tapped, but it helps you to not get mana-locked from Smallpox and gets Bloodghast to the graveyard. Works even better in decks that run Raven's Crime though and since you only have pox to get it to the graveyard i don't think it's a perfect fit. Also worth mentuoning that once you have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth out every land is fetchable...

ComboCrazy I'm glad we met. That picture made me laugh pretty hard. And no one had mentioned Beast Within to me. I do like the instant speed, and I think I have enough creature hate that a 3/3 wouldn't be the end of the world. Maelstrom Pulse was mainly there for token decks, but I'll definitely consider Beast Within. Do you think it is strictly better in this deck? Is it worth taking out Maelstrom Pulse entirely and switching to Beast Within?
Bloodspawn welcome to the party that livened up just recently. ComboCrazy may have had something to do with that.
1) Thank you for your detailed input. It always helps in knowing someone's thought process of why a card may be better or worth adding in the deck.
2) Onto the suggestions. First off thank you for the sideboard input. I am having the most trouble with that. I did consider that particular combo, but the two life from Thoughtseize and potentially Surgical Extraction seemed like it would be too much. However taking away all Amulet of Vigor, Splinter Twin, or even Karn Liberated from decks does sound great, and at that point I don't need to particularly worry about my life total because their main win conditions or combos are gone. I will definitely reconsider.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth I do like and have considered, but I guess my biggest problem is the fetchability (not a word I know). It's inconsistent I guess I would say. However you do present a great point that I had not considered. Saving my fetchlands (that will tap for black AND not have to lose as much life) until I either get Bloodghast and abuse him or just save the lands and use them whenever I need to. Thank you for the outside perspective. I do believe 4 may be too much because if I get stuck with more than one in my hand then I am somewhat mana screwed, especially if I draw more. I understand Smallpox may help with that, but it is assuming I'll get it with all of the other Urborgs. How does 2 sound to somewhat comprimise? I do like your idea. Also what exactly do you mean, "...once you have Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth out every land is fetchable?" I thought (based on the wording and rulings at gatherer) that it was a static ability that only worked on lands that are on the battlefield. Does it really work with every land even in hands and in the decks? If that is the case I truly did not know that. Also what utility and manlands would you recommend If I did decide to go with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth?
Dakmor Salvage I don't particularly like for this deck. The dredge mechanic means that my control cards could also be put in the graveyard, and I don't have anyway to recur them. If I started adding cards to recur them as well I should probably go full dredge at that point. My creatures don't block so against creature heavy decks I'll most likely lose that race. Other decks I need cards like Liliana of the Veil, Inquisition of Kozilek, and Smallpox to control their hand (and lands with Smallpox) so that I can do what I want to do and not have to worry about late game problems. That is my thought process on the card. Thanks for the thought though.
Become Immense has remained on the maybeboard for this long because that is exactly what I want to do with it. In playtesting, however, I usually do not have enough cards in my graveyard to reduce it to one mana to cast (unless I decide to use my creatures which I don't want to do). I guess it is a powerful enough card that casting it for 2 or 3 mana is still worth it. Even adding in Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth could reduce even those numbers being that I wouldn't necessarily need to use my fetchlands. Flipside of that is I can hold my fetchlands, use them all at the same time, and delve out Become Immense all in the same turn to really surprise my opponent. What cards would you recommend taking out for Become Immense and how many would you suggest adding in?
Lastly where do you fit in on the Maelstrom Pulse and/or Beast Within debate with this deck? I was personally thinking about adding one mainboard (at the time it was Maelstrom Pulse) and just going with 3 Abrupt Decays. Mainly against mainboard Leyline of the Voids and/or token decks was my thought process for using one Maelstrom Pulse mainboard (and even at all being Abrupt Decay can't hit Leyline of the Void). Do you think the 3/3 creature could be too much of a problem for me? Do you think Beast Within is worth taking out all of the Maelstrom Pulses due to instant speed and all permanents including lands are viable?

Pheardemons, just remembered something. You want creature hate? Tragic Slip. It's pretty much a "Destroy Target Creature" for 1 mana, at least in this deck, gven how often everything is dying. It also is effective against Indestructible, which otherwise you'd have no way to deal with. I would have three Tragic Slip and three of either Beast Within or Abrupt Decay. I actually would probably sideboard the Abrupt Decay because you have Inquisition of Kozilek which is actually more effective. Sideboard the Abrupt Decay, though, because if you're up against a really good control they're going to have Counterspell and Negate out everywhere. Yes, I would remove Maelstrom Pulse. It's just not fit for this deck, and it's a little expensive for what it's capable of.
