Dude, don't let all this negativity get to you. Play Nekusar if you want. If it's something that you enjoy playing, it's not bad at all. I have a Nekusar deck that I'm working on. Long live the Skeleton King!!

Sorry for the loooooooooooooooooooong time without posting here guys, i've been pretty busy. I'll post the updated list (8 changes) and explain the reason behind every substitution later.

@MarcosTithes Thanks a lot man! I really liked your list, seems pretty solid! But why runing Entomb? For Kess and Mizzix? Is it worth?

@DVLuca I've already changed 3 lands for the sinets (2 of them were lands that ETB tapped). I was afraid of beeing short in mana, but the change was great, thanks! Since I don't have Yawgmoth's Will or Scroll Rack I still need to test them online.

@DragCov Thank you! Some players at my LGS use creature heavy decks, Propaganda and No Mercy sometimes protects me from overruns LOL

@Megalomania I Think the same about Dark Deal. I'm finishing a trade on a Imperial Seal, it should be a nice replacement. I'm not sure about Helm of the Ghastlord, I know a wheel with it will give a ton of draw and my opponents 'll be locked, but it makes me more "Nekusar dependent". I'm going to test it anyway! And tanks a lot for your support, really! :)

@DrkNinja Some changes were made, but I'm not in a rush to make a lot more right now because I'm working in another decks and this one goes really well at my LGS and thanks for the comments! :)

@spoonieluv1023 Thanks man, I'm fine, I just ignore the rage comments lol. And Long Live the Mad King of Tristan!

what about all the cards that force your opponents to draw more cards making your commander super nasty Anvil of Bogardan, Duskmantle Seer, Font of Mythos, Howling Mine, Kami of the Crescent Moon, Mikokoro, Center of the Sea, Otherworld Atlas, Temple Bell, Walking Archive. with these you can gain friendship and then just destroy it lol.

I disagree with golgariizzet’s suggestions. Ultimately, these cards hurt far more than they help. There are two reasons these cards do not work:

  1. They provide no benefit on their own, and require additional support to function.

  2. They provide each opponent a chance to draw their answer to Nekusar or win condition, while only giving you one card. You are giving your opponents a collective X cards, while you get 1.

i see that some of this has been discussed but my friend runs a nekusar deck and i have seen how nice it does with them in it time and time again. Also the hell with all the haters you build the way you want, call it what you want don't let the single minded people bother you with what you want to say or do.

cdkime that's fine that you disagree and i am not saying use them all, just providing options. i have personally seen nekusar decks function perfectly fine and strong with this build, but if you build this way you should also have answers for peoples combos.

golgariizzet and cdkime thanks fr the comments! I used to run some of these cards (Font of Mythos, Howling Mine and Kami of the Crescent Moon). They are great against people who don't know how Nekusar works. However, as time goes by the players at my LGS get used with this strategy so i decided to change a little bit.

As you have said, we should always build the deck in way it will be fun for us to play. If you want to build a Nekusar deck this way, I strongly recommend runing with Forced Fruition.

Honestly, there's not much I can add here (other than Timetwister obviously). Chrome Mox and Mox Opal may fit with your high artifact count, and also help a LOT with Paradox Engine silliness.

I'd run Blasphemous Act over Damnation, and possibly Personal Tutor as an additional tutoring source to find wheels. Chasm Skulker seems slow here compared to the rest of the deck, and would probably be my first cut.

I will say that Mind Over Matter+Temple Bell/Niv Mizzle the Fo-Shizzle isn't infinite without an Eldrazi titan to re-shuffle your GY into library.

No Geth's Grimoire? And Mystic Remora can help you keep up with those pesky control players. I'd cut Exquisite Blood for one of these.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Daedalus19876! I was already thinking about removing Exquisite Blood and Chasm Skulker, now I have some options. :)

Cool deck!

I am always suprised to see Nekusar decks that favor discard pain over additional draw pain, such as Kederekt Parasite or Psychosis Crawler. Is that a conscious choice?

Please let me know what you think of my build:

Thanks Heliogabale. I prefer runing more enchantments than creatures (they are harder to remove) and the discard damage ones deals more damage. I'll post my comments about your deck on it's page.

Grafted Exoskeleton? Can keep getting put on each fresh summoning of your Commander

October 1, 2018 10:47 p.m.

Maizena says... #17

Thanks for your comment Metachemist!

I love killing everybody with infect damage, but Grafted Exoskeleton is a little too slow. I prefer giving infect to Nekusar when I'm going to win the game with some "chain" of wheels (like a "surprise").

Glistening Oil would be a better choice IMO.

Ohhh yeah that is better.

so im supposed to give advice to your deck to post on a thread but you are clearly a better player or at the very least more well versed in the game than i, and i feel i have little to offer in the way of "constructive criticism". that being said it appears to be a savage deck well done!

You really are not making suggestions easy with this deck. It seems very close to optimized, and I am pretty sure you have much more experience then I do so any suggestion I have will probably be of little help. Every time I think of a card I check your list and you already have it. Wheel of Fate seems alright but it is slow also Magus of the Wheel these wheel cards could add to your strategy or maybe Dragon Mage which is a wheel on a flying beater. the problem with all three of these suggestions they are slow taking at least 1 turn each without haste affects.

Maizena says... #21

Thanks for the comment cascadien. I'm glad you liked the deck! :)

Shana42 thank you for the suggestions. I used to run Magus of the Wheel, but it's too easy to remove a 3/3 creature. Dragon Mage is just too heavy, I think there are better 7+ CMC cards. And Wheel of Fate is too slow, you'll have 3 people preparing themselves 4 turns. Nevertheless those cards are great in a budget list!

Howling Mine costs 1 less than Temple Bell. Play mine instead.

January 7, 2019 11:24 a.m.

Maizena says... #23

SMASHER101 it sucks :( .

Howling Mine gives your opponents too much advantage. Nekusar works better finishing the game with a huge swing/combo than slowly draining everybody's life each turn.

January 7, 2019 11:34 a.m.

SMASHER101 says... #24

Play Whirlpool Warrior then.

January 7, 2019 11:37 a.m.

both of those cards are bad, smasher. you want to combo out with Waste Not so non-discard effects are far worse than Windfall effects since they are random and shuffle your library which usually has a card tutored on top and is therefore counterproductive.

like maiz said, any effect that gives your opponents free cards with no downside like howling mine are just terrible, especially without damage. Temple Bell is only good because it combos infinitely with Mind Over Matter otherwise its trash

the only wheels any nekusar deck should run is Timetwister and Wheel of Fortune effects. my nekusar primer is fully tuned and optimized and i dont even run Molten Psyche because its far too situational and dangerous to cast.

furthermore, telling someone to play cards with zero reasoning behind yout suggestion does nothing. anyone can easily go on EDHREC and see all the bad casual draw spells people run in their nek lists, but those are heavily casual lists and are more chaos than Waste Not storm
