Nekusar gets a bad rep. That comes from the fact, that you constantly discard people's hands and it becomes inconsistent. So, instead of getting pressured into playing a weaker Nekusar deck, this deck goes on the more aggressive with the discard and draw damage.

There are two main combos to win the game with this deck:

  1. The most consistent and fastest combo is Thassa's Oracle and Demonic Consultation (considering adding also including Tainted Pact so that the wincon doesn't get disrupted if one of the cards is missing).
  2. The less consistent combo is to put infect counters with Nekusar. To do this, you have to enchant him with either Phyresis or Glistening Oil and then wheel. The problem is that this combo is not as consistent and needs more set up, more mana. But it can be done.

Otherwise, you can just chip away at people's health. Having Nekusar and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse on the field at the same time makes card draw very costly. But for most of the time, you don't want to give your opponents an advantage. So Nekusar should be out in only two scenarios - either you are going to combo with him or you are out of cards and need to get something. Otherwise, just use the card draw, tutors in the deck so that you stay ahead of your opponents. If you lose cards to the graveyard, there are multiple options for the cards. But there are also cards like Kess, Dissident Mage or Echo of Eons so that you can get back them in some way. Wheels, while they are good as disruption, should be kept either for combos or as a last resort to get cards. There are also card locking combos - Anvil of Bogardan, Narset, Parter of Veils or Notion Thief and a wheel.
