Splinterfright is good but I don't think it's that great in this deck, you will be getting all your creatures from the graveyard so he will sometimes be a 1/1 or even die, I think Sheoldred is good here, and maybe you could squeeze some Days of Judgement to control a bit more? Just a thought!

Again, you didn't play test the deck.

All this " feedback " on splinter is irrelevant if you haven't played the deck.

Another thing, you said a Days could help. I this was a control deck, it would be Solar Flare.

What I need help with is finding the last 2 cards to put in.

Perhaps Viridian Emissary instead of Rampant Growth ? It's a creature, can chump block and be recurred with Sun Titan if necessary, and 2 power makes a nice early beater.

dude you are 100% right.

THANK YOU for that.

Yeah I'm working on a creature based mill deck of my own right now and I found that creature alternatives are almost ALWAYS preferred to spells. You could also sideboard Phyrexian Revoker or Stony Silence to stop Nihil Spellbomb if it's giving you trouble.

Maybe just two more lands?

lbiedma says... #8

Uhmmm how about Perilous Myr ? He could be useful here against the great amount of aggro decks you can find in standard... But it's also true that lands are always welcomed!

Perious myr has to be on the battlefield first.

You definitely don't want more lands, they clog your milling too much.

I put in some jace's instead

i love your idea so +1 but if i were you i would add in a few Grimoire of the Dead s because you have a lot of creatures.

Molten-Tail Masticore is a creature and a win con all rolled into one, fueling our graveyard by dumping flashback spells and creatures to be recurred such as Skaab Ruinator and Phantasmal Image while making use of what's there, and it also can regenerate itself if it has to.

Consider some control ( GFtT, Doom Blade ) in place of Dream Twist , ya, I know it's the GY-based deck, but never the less spending 3 mana and a card just to mill yourself for 6? Na. Armored Skaab is far better here. Really, consider leaving this place for more controll match-ups, where either you kill their bomb fast, either they'll kill yourself.

  • Civilized Scholar  Flip  FlipMTG Card: Homicidal Brute perhaps? For this exact deck his combo with Phantasmal Image and almost unlimited discarding is great. I'd add two and took out jaces for them. Don't think they are as usefull as their previous versions.

I addressed Civilized Scholar in a previous post.

@Corwin Milling yourself for 3 cards for blue and 3 cards for 1 and a blue is great.

Why would I need a doom blade? All I have to do is mill myself and my protection hits the field.

Moltentail masticore however is a GREAT suggestion.

What about card:Autumn's Veil? Because I play heavy control, and if I were to play against you more than once I would know what to counter and what to let through. Like your reanimators.

What do you think about a sideboard?

January 2, 2012 10:06 p.m.

Theename says... #21

What about a Laboratory Maniac ? It seems that usually you're getting down to almost 3 cards in the deck and winning. But if you're opponent can use any stall methods like Gideon Jura , then you will lose because you've milled yourself. And I'm only saying this because as I was play testing it. I would win almost every time if I had Gideon Jura and waited for just the right time to play him.

January 2, 2012 10:59 p.m.

Perhaps as a 1 of in the main or side, but the maniac is really only useful in long games, or at least it seems that way to me.

January 3, 2012 11:34 a.m.

Theename says... #23

True. But in any control matchup, long games happen. So I agree with sideboarding that.

January 3, 2012 11:38 a.m.

It's a solid backup card, but relying on many or multiple copies isn't going to surprise your opponent. Also, maybe consider taking out a Jace, Memory Adept for a Back from the Brink ?

Gideon alone can't stop the agro this deck produces.

I just played a game with a friend and got out Sun Titan Phantasmal Image and Skaab ruinator out on turn 5. HOWEVER, laboratory maniac would be a really good sideboard card to fight against turtle methods like you said, and they wouldn't even see it coming. VERY nice suggestion.

With all this mill I have in the deck, it might be rare for me to get either Jace OR Back from the Brink onto the field.

The deck needs more creatures, so that my cards and graveyard can interact with them, and putting 2 of those laboratory maniacs in might be a better idea than a Planeswalker or an enchantment.

And thank you both for the amazing feedback!
