Turn limit is not a solution, because there is some slow strategies, that are not dependant, from are they on play or on draw and are rather dependant from opponent's deck. It's better idea to ban single problematic cards, that cause this. I've had some interesting 20+ turns long games, where both build their forces and try to outsmart another player. Also Island Sanctuary's only wincon is to deck out opponent card by card, but it's viable deck. There is good and bad matchups for it like for every viable deck in each format. For example Bonfire of the Damned beats Island Sanctuary, Island Sanctuary beats Genju of the Fields and Genju of the Fields. If you add turn-limit, then Island Sanctuary becomes unviable strategy and this format really needs creatureless viable strategies, to keep creature-hate strategies from becoming too dominant and format breaking.

Stillmoon Cavalier seems pretty strong. It dodges a lot of removal and makes for favorable combats in most situations.

Phantasmal Image : play your opponent's strategy (assuming it's a creature strategy)

I'm digging Gatekeeper of Malakir.

Stormblood Berserker is pretty good.

I think Gatekeeper of Malakir is definitely a good counter to Lords type decks, especially Knight Exemplar as it forces a sacrifice. It also has a solid aggressive presence as well.

New additions: Stormblood Berserker as mentioned above. Kavu Titan because when it becomes a 5/5 trampler, it gets over some other creatures.

Kavu Titan might be good. Remember, we need people to test on cockatrice so we can help define the meta

Island Sanctuary Is a pretty rediculous deck to play with, it beats almost any viable creature deck and doesnt result in a tie, since it skips draw

bamfbanki says... #13

Island Sanctuary is an auto Knockout for both decks when you play it as it will hit 10 turn tie

I think it'll probably be banned.

@bamfbanki How do you test on Cockatrice (and what is it?) My Googling skills tell me it's a fan-based tcg simulator, but how would it fare to simply opening two windows and using TappedOut to test the decks?

bamfbanki says... #15

hjifghl it allows for full matches with 2 different players, and it allows for multiple opinions.

Use untap.in instead, it's way more easier, since it doesn't need any downloads and you can use it anywhere, where you can get access to browser and GUI.

My former link failed, here's correct one: untap.in

@Colgate I tried it, but the GUI is horrifyingly poor. I was not a fan of the design (to the point where I could hardly use it).

The problem with the ten turn rule is that it makes alot of the slower decks unplayable. Sure it throws out the idea of the Deck out tie, But I feel like it shuts down alot of the fun in the games to be honest...

This looks like fun! It will be hard to pick only 3...

Genju of the Fields is my favorite Genju; I was going to mention it but someone beat me to it. I've had a lot of fun with this card growing up.

Things I haven't seen mentioned: (Other cards already named may be better, but these are worth bringing up)

Grandeur Mechanic:

Oriss, Samite Guardian

Linessa, Zephyr Mage (seems mean but effective)

All the "Duos" http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?name=+[Duo]

Mul Daya Channelers (Seems really nasty)

Silvergill Adept (Like Baleful Strix with no color risk and a 2/1 in exchange for the keywords; not bad)

Squadron Hawk (or does this fall under the "name a card" rule?)

Phyrexian Crusader (takes 3 power to take down ONE, only needs 10 damage to win, and is protected from two colors)

Glaze Fiend(I actually really like this guy)

Rot Wolf

Knight of Infamy/Knight of Glory (the exalted adds up fast)

Serra Avenger (two on turn 4 every single game... With vigilance, it could certainly work)

Carnophage

Diregraf Ghoul

Restless Apparition

Brine Shaman (Just kind of funny. Not too bad, though)

Vampire Nocturnus (Almost worth the 4 CMC?)

Akrasan Squire (Swing for 3 damage on turn 2 and it only gets worse. Beats out Mogg Maniac by attacking with 2 or more of them)

Hinterland Hermit  Flip

Lim-Dul's Paladin (lolz)

Strictly better:

Lord of Atlantis > Timberpack Wolf >= Bramblewood Paragon > Muscle Sliver, Elvish Vanguard

Hada Freeblade > Champion of the Parish

Spectral Procession > Hordeling Outburst

Suture Priest > Blood Seeker

Tyrant's Choice is really bad in this kind of format... Believe me, I've played a deck with 3 of them in Conspiracy. When they have no creatures or too many creatures, they will select Death and then outpace you. If they play non-creatures, they will pick Death every time and nothing will happen.

I was going to suggest Gateway Shade and Crackling Perimeter, but then I remembered it's basics only :P

My top pick: Akrasan Squire

Chancellor of the Forge is interesting. It loses to every 1 drop creature deck (if it plays out perfectly) but will beat every 3 or higher drop creature deck guaranteed. the 2 drop match is dependent on who goes first and if the creature has at least a 1/2 body. Granted I didn't test it this is just theory.

I can't figure out if Chancellor of the Tangle is any good. it will lose to every interactive (AEther Adept) deck. But may beat out an aggressive creature strategy. The white chancellor is obviously terrible.

When i find ppl to test with I'd like to look into Entreat the Angels, Arcbound Ravager, Deft Duelist, and Rotting Rats.

Master of the Pearl Trident is strictly better, than Lord of Atlantis. IQuarent you forgotted, that you can also vote in Tyrant's Choice, not only your opponent.
