Just a thought but you could run Heartless Act to remove counters from Nine Lives and also as removal.

I had thought about that but have found Banishing Light , Elspeth Conquers Death and Calix, Destiny's Hand are able to take care of any non-creature permanents causing issues.

I only use these on creatures if there are no other non-land permanent types.

Heartless Act only targets creatures also btw.

Hey!

I think you could get a lot of good pointers from Brainless /ff

What about using Skyclave Apparition . It's upside against Banishing Light is heavier than it's downside with mana cost 1WW against 2W.

Banishing Light doesn't have a cmc restriction on targets though.

Banishing Light also has synergy with Calix, Destiny's Hand and can be fetched back with Dance of the Manse if need be.

Would love to run this with the only creatures being the Fae of Wishes as it generally functions as a creatureless deck.

Thank you for taking a look and I appreciate the suggestion.

Do you still think Shatter the Sky is better to have than the new Kaldheim Doomskar ?

Also out of curiosity, would it be fine to run some Zendikar/Kaldheim dual lands instead of a Basic land as you don't seem to be running any fetch basic lands? For example, running a Cragcrown Pathway  Flip instead of just Mountain ? Or am I missing something for running with basics over the dual lands?

No I prefer Doomskar for sure, will have to craft a few of those, maybe even a set.

Tbh the land base can be customized as one sees fit when making this deck, I used what I had at the time lol.

Thank you for bringing Doomskar to my attention.

Thanks again nonco went and double checked what pathways I had as well as added a set of skars.

Wow, a fellow shrine deck user.

The only thing I was amazed is In Search of Greatness . It helps you cast your clunky shrines. Other than that, this is almost the same as other shrine decks like me.

You can also check mine as well.

I have 2 ISOG ;D. Thanks man I originally had this running with Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath and Growth Spiral back when they were legal. This deck had evolved a lot since then and I love it. Though I feel its one of those decks that need a disclaimer... "don't play against friends you want to keep" lol, when everything falls into place it is such a controlling deck.

I may try Yorion, Sky Nomad in here again myself, mill is the only thing I've had issues with since Midnight Clock just isn't fast enough most times.

Thanks for sparking the thought.

No problem. I actually put 2 ISFGs in the main and it helped me a LOT. imagine, I can put quick Green Sanctum turn 3 then Binding the Old Gods by turn 4 then turn 5 sanctum of all. I might permanently keep ISFG in my deck.

Yeah and being able to scry each upkeep on the off chance you don't have a shrine id nice. Its a low key all star for sure.

Have you thought about using The World Tree for mana fixing in this deck? I have found in other decks that the 6 land requirement usually comes around really fast as long as I am hitting my land drops.

February 17, 2021 2:01 a.m.

is Shadowspear in the sideboard only to remove hexproof and indestructible? There are no creatures that it would really be worth it to equip. I would also suggest an extra Sanctum of Fruitful Harvest and take out a Sanctum of Shattered Heights . The deck is Bant except for a few shrines, co you could do mainly bant lands with pathways to give you black and red. I have also played cards like Nessian Wanderer to hit the land drops. Looks a lot better than my shrines deck!

Yes Shadowspear is just to remove hexproof and indestructible if needed.

The numbers for shrines has been tweaked to this point and works well, the extra Sanctum of Shattered Heights or any extra shrines either go to the Sanctum of Shattered Heights on the board, or are replacements for if and when an Ugin or two... or three XD, come down... yes I have rebuilt and won through 3 Ugins lol.

I run this "creatureless", I know Fae of Wishes technically breaks that but its in there for Fae of Wishes so whatever lol.

Thanks for taking a look and the feedback, always love seeing how fellow shrine decks differ now that there's more out there.

Oh and The_Hooded_Boy The World Tree might be useful, I will toss a couple in and test to see how it goes, thank you.

February 17, 2021 11:24 a.m.

I used to have a 60 card version with Jegantha, the Wellspring . It limits sweepers, but that wasn't a problem because I only have like 2.

February 24, 2021 2:22 p.m.

Reidane, God of the Worthy  Flip might have some affect on the Ugins flying around, but I have not seen is in action enough to truly suggest it. It might just get Heartless Act ed in the controlly ugin decks, but it might also pack a real punch. If it sticks around, it will buy you a lot of time to postpone the Ugin, and every precombat main is a value explosion on the later turns.

AjMcGamer says... #20

Yeah I dont really see that helping much, the decks that run Ugin are generally ramping to him anyway so the extra 2 probably wouldn't buy more than a turn. Thanks anyway though, I think I just have to deal with it for now and hope we get some answers in future sets.

How about Narset of the Ancient Way ? Also, Whirlwind of Thought gives you solid card replacement. They're both a little color restrictive, but effective and share the Shrine theme.

Shark Typhoon might also be hilarious, too.

AjMcGamer says... #22

Hey KongMing thanks for the suggestions but card draw isn't usually an issue that I run into enough to justify Whirlwind of Thought . I can see Narset of the Ancient Way having some use and may try her out in a variant, along with Shark Typhoon though they would probably fit better in the 80 card yorion version of this deck. I have really tried to streamline this version into boardwipes, exile effects, and protection for the shrines. Thanks again for the feedback.

-Ugin Update- I can't believe I hadn't thought about it but Sorcerous Spyglass is now this decks answer to Ugin.
