Love seeing Bogbrew Witch decks! I really think the cards for it are too fun not to! Have you had much success with Nightmare ? I have been on the fence with using it for my deck Bogbrew Witch Project. Feel free to check my deck out and see if any of the card synergy in it can help yours out. +1!

Haven't had a chance to play it yetand Madnote , work in progress haven't finalised the full sixty cards yet, will be done by September to replace my standard deck because I like my current one so much I won't be changing it for the rotation... But with mono black I'm hoping nightmare will be a nice addition.

For something with X, I think you should use Debt to the Deathless

Yeah I was thinking that thanks SpaderAce. Hoping there will be a mono black spell with X in the new sets as I'd prefer to keep it mono black for a bit of variety, don't want it to end up too much like my extort deck lol

Your using all black but i also see a large amount of mana ramp for a black deck. Maybe try using Rise of the Dark Realms as a game ender. Nightveil Specter can give you some cheap fun too :D Midnight Recovery on a Nightmare could bring back the newts for more brewing! I love the ideas for BBW combo

Desecration Demon is a cheap big flier with no real draw back. Having some Diabolic Tutor in the deck gives you some options. I also like the idea of using Slitherhead is another cheap black card that has a decent bonus from graveyard after being sacrificed. Tenacious Dead can be good with mana spare as its ability can take place even after being sacrificed, its not like a regenerate.

I play mostly Black decks so ive looked into a lot of different options.

@:mbooma...thanks again!

Was actually thinking 2 Diabolic Tutor ... 2 Chromatic Lantern ... 2or3 Nightveil Specter to make some havoc casting any color spells...

And I actually already have Tenacious Dead sleeved up ready for when the deck is finished! Didn't realise I hadn't included it on here!

I'll have a think about the Desecration Demon if I can lay my hands on it!

Might drop the count on the Bubbling Cauldron to 2 or 3... Cause it'll get found using the witch if it doesn't crop up right away...

haha, no drama :) Nice suggestion for a board wipe, but i've got an orzhov deck im really fond of that will be going out of standard with the rotation so this new deck needs to be standard so I can play it in tournaments/game days

Thanks AretsiM I'll keep it in mind... But as it costs 5 I think I'd rather use Doom Blade for 2 and have 3 mana spare anyway if I was on 5...but I'll definitely probably side board it for if I face black decks

Just a possibility Splash in green +4 Overgrown Tomb +2 Deadbridge Chant +4 Deathrite Shaman - 4 Tenacious Dead

Maybe throw in 2 Rogue's Passage to allow your Nightveil to swing through

And always remember, Rise of the Dark Realms is a fun card, but it's still iffy, even with huge mana excel, I might recommend that as a sideboard?

The only time you can do Tenacious dead is RIGHT after he dies... so he's a potential waste of your mana excel there

Thanks for the suggestion! I do like that idea, however I might struggle to get my hands on the cards for it, as I have none of the cards you mentioned haha... I'll keep my eyes open during trading and see if I can't give it a try... might proxy it up for play with friends and just see how it works!

Cheers Mello.Mel

ehh... it's just ok... I don't see it doing anything awesome. you have literally no finisher.. and dear god rise of the dark realms should never be a finisher. I would run obzedat instead of nightmare... or vizkopa blood baron... heck even varolz, over nightmare as a finisher.

Immortal Servitude might work better than Midnight Recovery if you are just using it for the newts as you can get multiple back at the same time instead of just one and they go to the battlefield.

You need more white sources - there's no way you're going to be able to get the double-white of Debt with just the Lantern and Shrines. The new Scrylands could help.

-2 Servitude, -2 Nightmare, -2 Tutor. The Servitude won't hit heaps of things at once (at best, a non-zero number of Newts and Tenacious Deads (who come back on their own anyway)).

Desecration Demon is a total bomb and you should run it regardless of whether it fits or not. Huge beats or eats their dudes and gets ever beat-ier.

Rise of the Dark Realms is slow as shit, and although it will win you games when you cast it, you rarely will. Crypt Ghast is a huge removal target because they see you're doing, so don't expect to hold onto it for long (but do keep it in anyway, it's still amazing.)

Go ahead and bump up the Liliana count - ramp and removal are always good, and you could easily go as high as 3. 4 is risky but you could try.

If you genuinely plan to use the Specter + Lantern combo, make those 4-ofs each.

The Chromatic Lantern gives you alot of flexibility in your deck which is good if you get it.

Nightveil Specter , Crypt Ghast , and Liliana of the Dark Realms will not add to your overall ability to last until turn 4+ and besides Debt to the Deathless /Corrupt you have nothing to take advantage of that extra mana. They are really only good as finishers. Ashen Rider would be a good add in if you stick with the mana ramp as you could have him by turn 5 with luck.

I would personally take out the mana ramp in favor of control cards/creature removal since your major win con your bogbrew combo. Also you have no way to cycle for more Newts.

thanks Runeroads

I might try the Ashen Rider but I'm just sceptical about how expensive it is, going to drag my avg. cmc right up and i'm not sure i'm comfortable with it. So far in playtesting with my friends it has been playing quite well. might give it a try but i'm quite sceptical. Feel like if it had lifelink it'd be a auto-include, seems kinda like they was just scraping around for a mythic...
