Immortal Servitude is a must in here. Bringing all your newts back from the graveyard for 4 mana? Than you can get on with the sac shenanigans again! Seems ok to me!

And I would use a few Devour Flesh in here as well. It gets around Hexproof, which is a big deal now with Sylvan Caryatid .

everyone is raving about Immortal Servitude but I just don't see the benefit... I can recur a newt or two, but its only going to be significant late late game if I've sac'd 3 or 4... much better things to spend 3 mana on!

Immortal Servitude is great if you are running alot of 1 casting cost creatures. Typically with mono black bogbrew you run 4 Festering Newt and 4 Drainpipe Vermin or Tenacious Dead . This brings you back all your sacrifice creatures so you can start feeding your Bubbling Cauldron again.

In my Bogbrew deck I cycle Festering Newt using Elixir of Immortality . Immortal Servitude has the advantage that it puts them back on the field where I need my Bogbrew Witch to fetch my Festering Newt after they are cycled. However, I also get 5 life.

Really Immortal Servitude it wouldn't work well in your deck because your primary win con is Debt to the Deathless . The rest of your deck is just a control mechanic to get there.

Thanks Runeroads... Yeah I'd rather have a kill spell or two extra than the recursion, glad you see my aim :) I do understand why people suggest it, works for most decks running the witch newt combo but I just don't see it playing out well in this one

Why does no one run Gift of Immortality In a bogbrew deck. I think saccing a newt for 4 dmg and 4 life every turn for eternity sounds like a pretty solid win con to me.

No reason not to run Gift of Immortality if you are running B/W. The reason I run Elixir of Immortality is because it pairs well with Sanguine Bond and is good early game for keeping my life up against aggro. I also run a Rakdos Bogbrew Deck, so the colors aren't right.

Good suggest EnragedPwn - might consider splashing a little more white into nth deck after game day

I'm not saying its the be all end all, but if this is for funsies, I think making an immortal newt that turns the game into a maximum of 5 turn clock sounds fun.

RedCloud2012 ~ used to run the tutors, expensive and never essential, I'd rather draw 2 after a crying for less mana... I use the tutor in a different deck but it didn't really play well in this one...

CW ~ Bit expensive and my devotion is never that high I don't think... I'll keep it in mine though after playing game day see how it works out...

I love this combo and I like your Corrupt and Debt to the Deathless as late game finishers! Only suggestion is Sanguine Bond or Vizkopa Guildmage

Thanks mrburns02 - was considering using them, but I thought it'd end up too similar to my old standard deck, don't think there is anything in here at the moment that has a legitimate superior card, at least till the new set comes out, really happy with how it plays.

Even stuff like Tenacious Dead has saved me games... block with it, sacrifice it with Bubbling Cauldron gaining four life and regenerate it... 3 mana gains me 4 life, blocks damage and annoys my opponent saved me dying against a white weenie deck yesterday and kept me alive till I could Debt to the Deathless for the win.

I highly recommend fitting in Dark Prophecy , it would give this deck a lot of gas. It can also help you dig for another Bogbrew Witch when one gets nerfed.

Like your deck. Even without having any Bogbrew Witch cards myself (sadly) I've found Tenacious Dead and Festering Newt to both be very nice (and somewhat underrated) 1 drops.

Particularly the Tenacious Dead are brilliant for re-sacking if you have any sacrifice effects (I've used mine with Cartel Aristocrat ), and are also halfway useful as a lategame draw for much the same reason - repeatable blockers.

If you have Underworld Connections I'd recommend it over Read the Bones .

+4 Temple of Silence -4 Swamp , the scry is awesome and also it helps with casting Debt to the Deathless , helps Nightveil Specter cast spells vs white decks and opens for new sideboard alternatives like Glare of Heresy .

Vizkopa Guildmage Could be nice for his life gain = damage ability, particularly with the bubbling cauldron. declare a blocker, activate his ability, sac the blocker, you gain 4 they lose 4. if its a tenacious dead you can even bring him back and do it again! I like crypt ghast with him as well, since his abilities require quite a bit of mana.

Maybe take out the chromatic lanterns for him?

have you tried Blood Baron of Vizkopa as your bomb or even Angelic Accord

November 6, 2013 4:20 p.m.

fatality292 says... #21

lincolk don't think i'll be able to get my hands on him easily otherwise yes! If i do though I'd be tempted to swap out Corrupt for it now some of my lands aren't swamps.

Haha, thanks, used to be 'my witchshake bring all the newts to the yard' but the new names easier to say... I haven't tried it since I changed it a bit. Will try and play with it tomorrow night and post results... It's super effective against control decks usually, not too great against agro unless I drawn the right stuff...

Cleric says... #25

Yeah I was gonna say it seemed a little agro weak, but stronger later. I found your deck by looking at theme decks actually. Here's one of my theme decks if you're interested. (Actually for modem) The Plague

Hmmm.. Linking to someone elses... Why do they let people have the same name as other decks? It messes up a lot of my links..Here is the url I guess.
