Update: Went 3-1 at my local game shop for the first test in the new standard. Game 1 was against U/W God Pharaoh's Gift. He tok game 1 because I didn't realize Fatal Push doesn't hit those tokens. (They keep their CMC). After side boarding I made short work of it with Dispossess and Abrade. Game 2 was against Ramunap Red and I just couldn't keep up but it was close. Game 3 was against Sultai Energy and I was able to pull it out with a basic control tempo stratagy. Game 4 was Dino's and I shredded his hand with Harsh Scrutinty and Doomfall. Also in the first game I hit one of his Carnage Tyrants with Bolas and that pretty much sealed up the game.
Adjusted for after rotation. Sideboard is based on what I know but will change based on the meta that get's put together. Otherwise this is how I plan to run it on release day._**
Standard Grixis Control idea for Hour of Devistation. Utilizes Nicol Bolas and Torrential Gearhulk for win cons. Let me know what you think can make it better!! All advice is appreciated. If you like the idea please give an Upvote!
Update 7/14/17:
Deck went 4-0 at my local FNM. It played exactly how you would expect.
G1: R/W Aggro, He mulled the first game to 5, the second game I had to much removal for him to keep up with. He seemed a little new to the game.
G2: U/R Control Burn, He used burn spells and Fevered Visions to try to get the upper hand and won game 1 but once I realized he was playing burn as his win con I just sided in a bunch more counters and he didnt have a chance once Torrential Gearhulks started hitting the board.
G3: B/G Energy, this deck was super aggresive, Hour of Devistation came in clutch on this matchup. Same thing as the last. By the time it got into the late game he could't keep up with Torrential Gearhulk.
G4: Mardu Vehicles, He took an early lead spilling cards like Heart of Kiran, Thraben Inspector, and Toolcraft Exemplar, but I stablized by turn 3 with Sweltering Suns. Second game I boarded in more sweepers and made short work of it. Gideon stands no chance against Hour of Devistation.
