Nicol Bolas, There's Always a Choice

Commander / EDH

handmaderobot

It's new deck time, and today I'm building a colour combination I've never tried before: Grixis! I've wanted to build Grixis for awhile now, but I could never figure out what I wanted to do with it. I thought about Jeleva for quite awhile but found her a bit too narrow. Then, thanks to the podcast I do (Snow-Covered Lands podcast, shameless plug!) I ended up with an excuse to build one, and it seems suuuuuper fun!

This is my Nicol Bolas 'Choice' deck. The whole concept behind the deck is that I always want to force my opponents to make a choice. It runs cards like Fact or Fiction (and pretty much every permeation of it), Blazing Salvo, Do or Die, Magus of the Abyss, Volcanic Offering, etc. I don't quite know how the deck wins, though I guess punching people with Nicol Bolas a couple times could work, but I think it would be a really good time to play. You're always going to be interacting with the people playing, even if you're not interacting with the board.

There are a lot of choice cards I'm not playing, because unfortunately a lot of them are not great for EDH (Browbeat, and the like) but if I missed something really cool or interesting please let me know!

Anyway, enjoy!

(PS This is not the exact list I used as a decklist for the podcast episode, as that was made with specific requirements, but it's pretty close.)
