Welcome to Nigg, Nagg and Nogg !

We have had some tremendous fun playing with Meren of Clan Nel Toth as our commander. After all, it's such fun to make others sacrifice their creatures while you get everything back. But somehow we wanted more. Our opponents still got to keep stuff other than their creatures that could prove to be painful, like artifacts and enchantments. Enter the Shattergang Brothers, the solution to our remaining problems. Now we could really start to empty boards :)

Feedback to this deck is more than welcome, but before you give any, please take note of the following:

  1. Members of our playgroup feel that the primary goal of playing a game of EDH/Commander is that all players participating have a fun time. This means most of our EDH/Commander decks are not meant to be competitive. We enjoy the occasional infinite combo (mostly because they can be hilarious), but none of us feel the need to build decks that are exclusively about them.
  2. We have not bought any new cards since June 2016. We still trade cards though, but only when we feel the trade adds something to our collection without significant loss to it. This means that whenever you are suggesting a new card that we do not own, chances are pretty slim it is going to end up in our deck. Please do not take this personally. Also, please do not let this stop you from making suggestions. Suggestions that do not make it into this deck, will still be mentioned on this page and might be used by others.
  3. Please do not forget to include the card(s) you would remove to make room for your recommended card(s).
  4. Please do not recommend any cards with infect or cards whose sole purpose is to destroy basic lands (non-basic lands are fair game). Our playgroup has banned them.

With that being said, thank you for all your support and if you should decide to use our ideas, have lots of fun with them.

This deck is about making others sacrifice creatures, artifacts and enchantments by saccing our own. Naturally, we'll try to use tokens whenever we can OR to get some recursion on the field, in case non-tokens need to be sacrificed. Once the enemy board is clear, our creatures storm over to deliver a whoopin'. The Shattergang Brothers are instrumental in clearing the board, but some redundancy has been built in; just in case our opponents decide to pour the hate onto our commander(s). This is the casting priority we usually go for:

  1. Ramp; does it need to be said? :) Cards like Birds of Paradise, Cryptolith Rite, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Rampant Growth and Chromatic Lantern help us get an early advantage.

  2. Get some token generators (like Tireless Tracker, Mycoloth or Awakening Zone) on the field and generate some fuel for Shattergang Brothers and other sac engines. An alternative to token generators is to get some creatures with recursion (like Meren of Clan Nel Toth or Hua Tuo, Honored Physician onto the field (to prevent us from having the kind of empty boards our opponents will have).

  3. Enter Shattergang Brothers and other sac engines and let the removal fun begin!

  4. Get some permanents on the field to make saccing stuff more effective (with cards like Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, It That Betrays and Grave Pact.
