So this is the deck I played for the 4 Duel Commander sided events at GP Toronto this past weekend. Great turnouts, friendly people, and loads of fun all weekend.

At the end of the 4 events my overall record was 10-3-3.

The strong points about this deck are:

  • No mana dorks means you dont get set back by wraths like most green decks.
  • If you're strapped for mana you can always play Nissa to make sure you dont miss a drop.
  • With an average draw you're well ahead in mana production. Multiple times I started turn 3 with 6 lands on the table.

The weaker points of the deck:

  • Hexproof is bad.
  • Like... it's REALLY bad.
  • Some graveyard combo decks can be a rough matchup but I'll be making changes to help with that match based on the information I gained this weekend.
  • Every once in a while you get games where the best you can do is "Land - go". It's not too often but man it sucks when you get that kind of hand.

Ground Seal is coming out since I learned the hard way it doesn't stop Shallow Grave or Corpse Dance. The cards I'm planning to add once I figure out some other cuts are:

  • Avenger of Zendikar
  • From Beyond
  • Scrabbling Claws
  • Phyrexian Furnace
