My first EDH deck that's been tweaked over the years as I traded for the cards it needed.

Its current version is designed for 1v1 EDH against very powerful decks. These powerful decks are built by Spikes who want to win above all else. FYI my local playgroup uses standard EDH rules not French rules for 1v1.

The plan? Draw cards, tutor for stuff you need (usually counterspells), try and counter any threat until you can draw a bunch of cards and ping the opponent to death.

You can reuse your library many times with Remenice and Elixir of Immortality, therefore avoiding decking yourself with a Curious Niv-Mizzet. Archaeomancer, Izzet Chronarch, Snapcaster Mage and Mystic Retreaval can resuse spells in the graveyard. These creatures are also Wizards, very handy for reusing with Riptide Laboratory.

Another handy Wizard is Trinket Mage who can fetch: Darksteel Citadel, Seat of the Synod, Great Furnace, Elixir of Immortality and of course Sol Ring.

Riptide Laboratory provides a way to protect Niv-Mizzet as well as allowing some card advantage through recasting the handy Wizards. Another card advantage land is Academy Ruins to bring back all the useful artifacts.

The curiosity combo is in here, I know it's boring but I want this deck to be somewhat competetive against a local Zur deck and a version of Legacy's Esper Stormblade/esper control commanded by Oloro.

True Name Nemesis is annoying, as is Nevermore. my only real response is to either clone TNN or counterspells.

The maybeboard:

The Treasure Hunt is there to fill the hand, I know it doesn't trigger "when you draw a card" effects.

Mind stone is perfect to ramp and also draws a card, sadly I don't own one yet.

The Myr are an attempt at more ramp.
