Niv-Mizzet (Storm): Nexus Storm

Commander / EDH Clone Infinite Combo Storm

Paradigm_Cypher

Alright guys, I am normally not a fan of five color commanders but once I realized the potential behind Niv-Mizzet Reborn, I couldn't resist. Hold it, before you say another mighty Mizzet leading an army. This is a very different build for the Reborn. We are going to build the perfect storm deck!

Anyways, the play style of this deck is very much a voltron style but without all the nefarious voltron boosts. All I do when I pilot this deck is cast Niv-Mizzet Reborn as quickly as I can to start running through my deck. An important note here, you will frequently be able to tutor for the win condition before you even cast Niv Mizzet, you are looking for Dream Halls. Don't even worry about chancing it on attacking with him, you can if you have an obviously open window but it really isn't necessary. I have included a number spells such as flickers, bounces, and cloning affects in order to abuse the ridiculous card draw engine that the Reborn can provide. I can usually make it through at least half of my deck without worry of being killed by the opponent(s).

Sooo... How do we win with a deck with essentially one creature? Easy! You are one the look out for a couple of cards such as an Enlightened Tutor or a Sterling Grove. These will be essential in finding the one of the two cards that cannot be drawn by Niv-Mizzet Reborn's ability. The win condition is a bit of a disguise and may not be apparent until the engine is already up and running.

Once you get Dream Halls onto the battlefield, that is pretty much game. You discard a card in order to cast a card, usually abusing Niv-Mizzet Reborn's draw engine in order to stock your hand full of every card you can get your hand on. Once you do this, you are building up the perfect storm. Another important card to find is Thousand-Year Storm so that suddenly you find each of your instant and sorcery spells all come equipped with Storm.

With both of those cards out on the field you should be able to win the turn they are both present. Then you will just keep building the affect and blast your opponents in the face for victory. So far this has proven to be one of my most powerful decks I've built to date. This deck will actually go infinite once you have both pieces out. You can cast a burn spell; cast a recursion spell to return the burn spell to hand, cast the burn spell again, and the cast a second recursion to return the burn spell and the first recursion spell.

Important note, don't be afraid to hit your opponents multiple times in a turn when you are building the storm. You will likely need to but don't fear as there are plenty of spells in here that will allow you return any card from the graveyard to your hand.

The biggest weakness of this deck will be if someone manages to exile Dream Halls and opponents who go wide.
