Efficiency Update and Speed of Play increased —April 30, 2022
I've lowered the overall CMC of the deck to allow Kwain, Intinerant Meddler to be played on turn 1 more reliably, thus allowing you to start your game strategy earlier. Normally rushing a commander out faster would be quickly punished by everyone's first removal, and you'd be left with a disadvantage in cards. However, this is not the case with Kwain as for one, people never see him as a threat even worth removal. The opposite even, as he is literally helping everyone. side note I've had opponents keep one land hands because they know they won't be punished as hard with a Kwain in the pod. Secondly to rushing Kwain, using 2 or 3 cards just to get him out one turn faster is worth it, and he replaces any cards used for a mox artifact or gemstone caverns. Other changes I've made have been to cards that give insane value like Ominous Seas, which while I've seen play very well, and never fail. The result is just making really beafy blockers that you don't even need in 70% of your games, because you're not winning with combat damage, nor do you want to show your opponents that you have any threat at all. So I siwtched it out for a card like Standstill which not only compliments the deck strategy, but has a much more flexible use. So with other more linear cards now out of the deck, space for more "grouphug" styled cards can be fit in. Lastly I changed more lands to duel coloured lands like Grasslands to not only thin the deck but synergize with Brainstorm and Scroll Rack, and to ensure that you're never forced to mulligan a starting hand because you don't have your dual colors. Lastly and most importantly is my inclusion of Show and Tell and Omniscience. The synergy is obvious, but the cards are obviously here to stomp off in a new way. Also Show and Tell is super fun!
