Chain Lightning is a good card that you could use in this deck. Blood Moon works really well against the modern metagame and you should take advantage of the card and put it in your sideboard somewhere. I would recommend taking out the 4 Searing Blood and the Forked Bolt . Leyline of Punishment is also a good sideboard card. You would be surprised the amount of times that your opponent won't be able to deal with it before you win the game. I also recommend running more enchantment hate because Leyline of Sanctity is a thing.

Putting Blood Moon in this deck is a trap. You never want to draw it off of the top of your deck. We are already winning turn 3-5 so using Blood Moon doesn't really help us. Your opponent is at 3 and you top deck a Blood Moon , not good. If it did damage then maybe...

Getting rid of Searing Blood is a terrible mistake, it's one of our best cards against Pod which is a bad match up for us. Forked Bolt is also amazing against their dorks in that match up.

Leyline of Sanctity is a thing in 2 decks in competitive modern. Bogle and Soul Sisters, which are very very very bad match ups for RDW. Leyline does not improve these matches enough to warrant an inclusion.

Thanks for the comments though, this deck is tuned for the competitive meta. MTGO and my LGS are very competitive, so meta decisions go into the pick of every card in the deck.

It's nice to see a unique take on this kind of deck. I love the Molten Rain inclusion, I could see that being back-breaking. +1
My own deck is more combo-based, and has no rares by design. Modern Goblin Bombardment.

One suggestion (sideboard) is Reverberate . There are so many sick interactions with it, or you can use it to just push more damage through. In a previous deck, I had someone flip the table when I copied his Cryptic Command .. lol

Why are you running Eidolon of the Great Revel ? Your highest cmc is 3, you'll hurt yourself more than anything by having that on the board.

August 8, 2014 8:01 p.m.

Because you're doing damage mostly in increments of 3. In modern most cards are 3cmc or less. So every spell your opponents play will deal 2 damage most of the time. Its free damage especially in a deck where you are trying to deal 20 as fast as possible. If they fetch a shock and play it untapped for a 3cmc spell or less, they just did 25% of their life total to themselves. The 2 damage you take while dealing 3 to them is well worth it.

There is a reason people have been 4-0ing dailies, winning premieres, and going undefeated on day one of gps and protours with mono red...the reason is Eidolon of the Great Revel .

It might be hard for newer players to understand why he is so good in the deck, but sometimes Magic can be a couter intuative game. Like why is Dark Confidant worth 80bucks when he deals damage to you after you play him? The card advantage he produces is worth the damage you take from him. Samething with Eidolon of the Great Revel , the damage you take is worth it because of the extra damage your opponent takes. Every card they play with 3cmc or under is a free burn spell for you.

Not understanding why cards work the way they do is a big reason newer or unskilled players fall into traps with cards, ex: Vexing Devil . He is usually not a good spell, but people get overly excited that he can do 4 damage on turn 1. He has been discussed in detail countless times, so just look up why he is bad on google.

Eidolon of the Great Revel has turned RDW/Burn into a good deck in modern. He has to be dealt with or your opponent will die very quickly.

Use Magma Spray in place of Pillar of Flame

August 14, 2014 6:02 p.m.

@3n3rgy2 if it went to the face then I would, but since it doesn't I'll stick with Pillar.

Possible suggestion: Manabarbs ?

Pretty slow, being a four drop, but could do a bit of damage by that turn! xd

Does Mogg Fanatic operate as a self-detonating Goblin Arsonist ?

After he's dealt his one and has taken lethal damage, can you sacrifice him and deal an extra one, I mean?

August 16, 2014 11:50 a.m.

If he's blocked he can still saccrifice yes.

I just want to point out that playing a land does not count as a spell, so fetches or lands would not cause any life loss. Unless you mean that you don't want to use fetches because of price, which I wholeheartedly understand.

August 16, 2014 5:04 p.m.

You lose life everytime you fetch a land or put a shock land in untapped. Fetches make you pay one life to tap and search...so yes, they aren't spells which I'm well aware of, but they do cause life loss.

August 16, 2014 6:48 p.m.

I actually have the fetches online so price was not the factor.

At FNM last night I won g3 of match 1 against Genesis wave after he attacked in for 19 damage. If I would have fetched once, he would have won.

so you haven't come across any Leyline of Sanctity decks yet? hmm odd. at my shop you can't ever run burn because everyone's sideboard has leylines in them

August 17, 2014 7 p.m.

Depends how competitive your meta is. Only two decks really run it in the online and competitive meta. Soul Sisters and Bogle. Plus people should read Searing Blood and Eidolon of the Great Revel a bit closer...they don't target ;)

August 17, 2014 9 p.m.

Also, Molten Rain , Cryoclasm , Peak Eruption don't target either. So use all those spells and clear the board with your burn on their creatures to get through with your creatures. This build is very resilient against Leyline. People think Leyline is a catch all versus burn when it is not. Go ahead and aggressively mulligan for it, I'll keep my seven and have better lines of play ;)

Is Goblin Guide super important, or can it be replaced with something else?

August 19, 2014 1:28 p.m.

Goblin Guide and Eidolon of the Great Revel are the two most important cards in the deck. You 4x of both of them. He gets in for 2 damage on turn 1 and usually does 4-6 damage by himself.

how is Stormblood Berserker performing? have you tried Ash Zealot , Keldon Marauders or Hellspark Elemental in his place?

Also, what do you think about sideboarding Vexing Shusher or Blood Knight ? are they too slow?

August 21, 2014 12:10 a.m.

I like the Stormblood Berserker s but I've been playing around with dropping them and going with 2xHellspark Elemental to make the deck faster, going down to 3xMogg Fanatic , and adding Forked Bolt to the main and adding the forth Pillar of Flame to the board.

Ash Zealot is not a card I'm high up on for this build. I want to be doing other things turn 2. Vexing Shusher and Blood Knight are just too slow for the deck.

Grim Lavamancer does not belong in a deck with out fetchs, if they are out of budget take 1-2 out for more burn
