How is Dash Hopes terrible? I find it very appealing since it's the only black counter spell. And if they do pay the 5 life, I win either way. :)

They'll always pick the one that is best for them so it's never a good card. It always does something but it never does what you want it to do. Theres a reason cards like that dont see any play

Im not sure if lots of people overlooked it or not but you should really replace your Liliana Vess For Liliana of the Veil start putting money away 25 a week or somthing (i dont have a good day job XD) for you it might be fine. But if you love black and want to start modern this is where you want to be going. I think other people saw Liliana Vess and assumed it was Liliana of the Veil

Maybe take out the Dash Hopes s for the Lilis? I can't find anything else to take out as the whole deck is really good.

Only run 2 or 3 Lilis though. I would probably take out 1 Desecration Demon and 1 Dash Hopes for 2 Liliana of the Veil .

The thing with Lili, you don't HAVE to play her turn 3, play a gatekeeper turn three, make them sac a creature, follow up on turn 4 with a lili.

Consider Goryo's Vengeance , you can turn 3 or 4 +1 Liliana of the Veil , discarding Griselbrand , then returning him to the battlefield.

also with Bitterblossom unbanned, Abyssal Persecutor is definitely stronger than Desecration Demon

Get rid of Hero's Downfall it's no good in Modern. Not only that but Dash Hopes needs to replaced with something like Geth's Verdict . Like everyone has said it isn't very useful. And I know you're going to hate me saying this, but Griselbrand has no place here. You're running devotion, I get that, but modern is simply too fast for devotion unless you're playing Green. You have no mana ramp. That special devotion land is not going to help you. Furthermore, Go for the Throat is a much better investment. Also, if you can swing the cash for it I would invest in 2x Damnation and remove something like 1x Desecration Demon and 1x Phyrexian Obliterator

Don't play Dash Hopes , it's pretty horrific and it'll never do what you want it to do. You want it to counter the spell - they pay life. You're still screwed.

I'm not sure you'll ever be able to cast Grisels.

You need more quick removal because you have very little. I'm not sure about the meta but you may find that Victim of Night is better than Go for the Throat . Both have drawbacks and I know that affinity etc is a big thing in modern. However I realise that Jund may be running Huntmaster.

Both Phyrexian Arena and Underworld Connections are way, way too slow. In fact most of the top modern decks run Dark Confidant and curve off at 4 max. I'm not really too sure what to suggest because this deck can barely play most of its threats before most other modern decks would be well established and already kicking ass.

You have to remember that modern is mostly a T2-T3 format. Those are extremely important plays. You have no meaningful T2 play.

Why is Abyssal Persecutor better? It makes me not win the game.

Should I use Doom Blade and Go for the Throat and have Victim of Night in sb?

Go for the Throat probably.

I know, but that doesn't help me much at this point haha I wanna know if I should use it in addition to Doom Blade or just run Go for the Throat as my only kill spell.

This is starting to look a lot more like the mono-black control decks that do fairly well in tournaments.

ChiefBell I was curious about splashing green and using Abrupt Decay for getting rid of cards like Bitterblossom easily. I don't have any enchantment hate in this deck, and I could do the same with Golgari Charm

I think run both mainboard as 2 or 3 ofs and the rest of each in sideboard :-)
