Yeah I agree with Prehstun. Birthing Pod is important here. It let's you sac creatures (which come back) and get the creatures you need to get going. Bloodthrone Vampire, Murderous Redcap, etc.

The reason I do not have Birthing Pod in the deck is it runs great without it, Viscera Seer acts like a pod by allowing Infinite scry but he also gives infinite sac.
I also like the deck to be a little unique and more budget... we've all seen turn 1 birds turn 2 pod... but who has seen turn 1 Utopia Sprawl turn 2 Viscera Seer and Bloodthrone Vampire, turn 3 Melira, Sylvok Outcast and Apostle's Blessing and a kill.
Also who doesnt play artifact hate in their sideboard if I rely on the pod then Ill win game 1, but games 2 and 3 are questionable.
That said, I might toy around with maybe 2 of them to add consistency any staying power for the longer game.

Well, either way, there's a reason Melira Pod is one of the best decks in modern, despite how you want to play the deck...

all of the other Pod deck I see play a mess of different creatures. witch is fun and cool and all, but if you loose your pod your up a creek. I want to really drive home the infinite combos make 'em happen fast and consistent.

Where is Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit, she is basically a better Melira, Sylvok Outcast.

I had actually not thought of that, and I do like it, however I'd have to totally revamp my mama base to include white. would be hard to make work. But I'll toy with it. Thanks.

Now, this deck seems great for casual play, but with modern removal, what would you do since your main card is liable to be removed from the field, if not your hand? It would be better with both her and Anafenza, but either way, you're still going to be having a hard time keeping both around.
Also, what are your thoughts on Blasting Station? I would consider that over the infinite scry myself.

DOH! I am a stoop! Already in there. Lol. I'd still run a set of them, as I go to bed for the night.

this is a competitive deck (at least I want it to be). but I do see your point about my sweet little lady being fragile. but what do I do about it? Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit is not the answer, the WW is just not doable. I do have apostle's blessing to protect her but that is way too thin.

these are the best things I can come up with... Withstand Death or Vines of Vastwood. what do you think?
September 4, 2015 12:24 a.m.
I'm not really sure. At least in my local meta, keeping creatures on board seems to be almost impossible, with counters keeping them from hitting the field in the first place and things like Path to Exile and kill cards to get rid of what slips through, along with things to bring back path from the graveyard. There's enchantments out there to give creatures hexproof, but that would be hard to actually accomplish since they'd immediately path her the turn after you play her in games 2 and 3 after figuring out your combo.
If you ran blue, there's a soulbound creature (blanking on the name) that gives the creature it's soulbound to and itself hexproof when it's soulbound. There's also Whispersilk Cloak which could be immediately equiped, but that would slow down the deck and I'm pretty sure that they can decide to path in response, before it becomes equipped.

I would recommend Vines of Vastwood, Withstand Death like Zer0w mentioned. But I might also consider Canopy Cover and MAYYYYYBE Autumn's Veil... Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice and confirmation on the cards I was thinking about. (I am Zer0w, so I agree with everything he said above)

Just as a huge added bonus to Vines of Vastwood, it can target a Splinter Twin Combo Creature in response to them casting Twin. I know you are already running 4, but some people don't know about this use of the card. I have a playset in my infect deck, but with this deck, they probably wouldn't even see it coming.
December 16, 2015 10:19 a.m.
I had never thought of that. that could come in handy in many situations, even equipping a creature. that might buy me a turn against Lashwrithe or Cranial Plating, and with this deck sometimes 1 more turn is all you need to go infinite.
December 16, 2015 10:30 a.m.
Vines would not work vs twin. Hexproof makes it so OPPONENTS can't target the creature. If it was shroud, that'd work, but Hexproof is different.
December 19, 2015 11:51 a.m.
But vines does not give hexproof, it says that the creature can't be targeted by opponent's spells or abilities. meaning opponent's of the controller of vines not the controller of the creature. So it should work.
December 20, 2015 12:23 a.m.
"Opponents" refers to opponents of the player whom controls the creature. It's literally a pre-hexproof way of saying "Hexproof". For whatever reason they kept the text the same on Vines.
Long story short, it will not work.

Oops! I fucked up, sorry dude. I had a different card in mind when thinking of vines.
Never mind, yeah. That would 100% work. Sorry for that

You might just want Cauldron Haze to keep your Melira, Sylvok Outcast alive.
