Changes, having seen Chapin's list —Nov. 18, 2015

So, having seen this: Patrick Chapin's Temur Prowess , I think it's pretty awesome - and it made me re-think tempo, and Abbot of Keral Keep. I pulled out some counters, upped the cantrips, and added Seal of Fire in accordance with some of Chapin's Abbot-related ideas.

Hey, this is a great version of UR Tempo. The only suggestion I can make is to consider cutting a few more counter spells (which don't work very well with Abbot of Keral Keep and perhaps a single copy of Young Pyromancer (I think 4 is too many) in favor of topping off the number of Serum Visions and Gitaxian Probe, and maybe adding 1-2 more Vapor Snag.

tchau204 Yeah, if Abbot weren't so awkward with counterspells, I think Abbot/Snapcaster UR Tempo lists would be huge. It's worth noting that for the duration of the turn that the counter is exiled by Abbot, it probably prevents the opponent from doing anything on your turn, as long as you keep the mana up. So it's not a total loss.

I actually think cutting counters and creatures is a bit of an either/or situation. If I cut down on counters, I probably want more creatures and more redundancy, because I just can't protect them very well. And the deck really needs the right creatures to stick at the right time to win, because there isn't anything that powerful in the mainboard. I'll definitely think about your suggestions, though, and maybe move in one direction or the other. And thanks a lot for commenting - but I think we may have hit on the limitation of this budget version relying heavily on Abbot as opposed to Snapcaster.

formayor Your points on Abbot are definitely valid. I just have Patrick Chapin's RUG Prowess list stuck in my head where he really wants to a capitalize on the extra steam provided by Abbot every turn to proactively win the game rather than reactively. But with Jeskai, I guess there's also the factor that you might get outclassed on the board without Tarmogoyf really quickly, or for the same reason, you might get blown out by a Pyroclasm, so holding counters are much more important here.

tchau204 I can't believe I missed Chapin's list - that thing is great. There's some really clever stuff going on in that deck - very useful ideas for Tempo, Prowess, etc.. Thanks.
