Cultivate is strictly worse than Nissa's Pilgrimage in a deck with 27 basic Forest cards.

Totally true! This list hadn't been updated since Nissa's Pilgrimage came out, but those two cards have since been switched. Thanks for the post. Any other thoughts on the unusual plan for this green deck?

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but something to help you go find your wincon would be a good inclusion. You have tons of mana at your disposal, perhaps a Planar Portal or Ring of Three Wishes could be a worthy inclusion. I like ring just because having a limited number of activations seems less threatening, and being cheaper to play and activate can be important.

Other than that, Conspiracy gave you some new goodies, like Regal Behemoth and Selvala's Stampede.

Appreciate you giving it a look but this deck is far from needing any additional mana ramp from Regal Behemoth, there is an obvious absence of artifacts so I would never consider adding any of the tutors you mentioned, and Selvala's Stampede is basically a poor man's inconsistent Tooth and Nail. I did think about it for fun when it came out, but it's not necessary. This deck doesn't have any problems getting Squall Line just through drawing cards.

forevergreen I will admit when I first looked at the list I did not realize how competitive it was. I assume the lack of artifacts is because of Creeping Corrosion, their lack of devotion, or just to blank opponent's artifact removal?

In any case, Survival of the Fittest seems like a possible addition. I know you already have Fauna Shaman, but Survival is faster, repeatable, and more consistency is always good. You are also a little light on 2 drops in your curve so that would fill it in a bit.

Selvala, Heart of the Wilds can double your mana when Omnath is out, but it can backfire on you if you're playing against a deck with a lot of fatties.

Either way it looks pretty streamlined, nice work.

Selvala is actually in the deck; I just realized I haven't udpated the list since Conspiracy 2 came out and I've made some significant updates so I'll post the changes soon. The deck isn't supposed to be really competitive actually, more just fun and it has an endgame that I find to be unique, resilient, and unexpected for a green deck.

The no artifact thing is sort of a nod to green not needing them like the other colors do for a funcitonal EDH deck, also it's fun for the odd Acquire situation or even when somebody targets me with Praetor's Grasp to get my nonexistent Sol Ring. Also, Creeping Corrosion like you said.

I have since cut Fauna Shaman because my preferred tutors in this deck are Wild Pair and Yisan, the Wanderer Bard who replaced Fauna Shaman. He's more fun, less immediately threatening, and has 5 combined P/T which is relevant for many of the creatures in this deck as far as Wild Pair goes.

Appreciate your input and discussion; EDH is my hobby and passion. I view deckbuilding as an art form and an outlet for personal creativity and expression. The same goes for playstyle: you can choose to build and play like a jerk, or you can play skillfully without being oppressive. I endeavor to do the latter.

Wicked_N_Irish Vorinclex used to not be in this deck because he is pretty mean and also feels bad when he gets taken with Bribery or something else, but he is back in now just for the mana doubling really. And Doubling Cube is an amazing card and used to be in this deck back when it ran artifacts mostly for hilarious shenanigans with Seedborn Muse, but now since there are no artifacts in the deck, there is no cube. And Dictate of Karametra would be entirely superfluous given all the other mana-producing enchantments and creatures. Vernal Bloom is already almost a little too risky at giving another green player a big boost.

I like the idea, the only card off the top of my head is Hurricane for another X damage spell, however, it being sorcery speed is the reason you're likely not running it. Great list though!

September 21, 2016 2:37 p.m.

Thanks for the feedback griffinpride23. You're right that hurricane would be good, and also right that I'm not playing it because it's sorcery speed. The idea is to win at instant speed, preferably when facing a sure death from another combo or massive attack, to come from behind completely unexpectedly. This is doable with Yeva, Nature's Herald to speed any relevant creatures into play and then Squall Line.

Wild Pair is not exactly the best tutor for Elderscale Wurm, considering that the only other creature with 14 combines P/T is Patron of the Orochi. Wouldn't something like Worldly Tutor be better? Additionally if you have a ton of mana, Green Sun's Zenith or Chord of Calling could work.

September 24, 2016 4:14 p.m.

I typically don't play the OG tutors and I cut the other tutors you mentioned. I don't use Wild Pair to tutor for Elderscale Wurm. I usually just draw him along with the rest of the deck and he's not expressly necessary if my life is already higher than everybody else's. WP is just a lot of fun for me and there's a lot of creatures in the 2,3,4,5 P/T brackets I want to get. Also, if I bounce Omnath to my hand with Temur Sabertooth then I can float the appropriate amount of mana to tutor for whatever I want as long as it has an even combined P/T.

Platinum Emperion would be good to give you another "I can't lose" creature for when you go for the win.

September 25, 2016 8:42 p.m.

I would appreciate it if anyone who thinks they have a great idea that I've never thought of would read the previous comments or maybe try to intuit some of the basics of this deck's design before making suggestions. Also, the deck is as near to perfectly tuned as can be probably so suggestions are really not needed. If a card is not in this list, it's not because I haven't thought of it or don't know about it. I know virtually all of the worthwhile playable cards for EDH by heart, and for the thousandth time, there are no artifact in this deck intentionally. If you find the unconventional design for a green deck to be interesting then please give it a +1, otherwise feel free to take the idea to your own deckbuilding and move along.

I would definitely recommend Boseiju, Who Shelters All, so that you can protect your win con. Since your goal is to cast a huge spell rather than a creature, boseiju seems like an auto include.

City of Solitude? Another Dosan effect to protect your win con.

September 26, 2016 12:07 p.m.

beninator City of Solitude is definitely a solid card for the build but it doesn't come in foil and I couldn't flash it in anyways. Lightpulsar9, Boseiju is definitely a good idea, except since I can pull the wincon out at any time when I have priority I can just wait to do it when the blue players tap out. If they still get through a Force of Will or Pact of Negation, no worries, play Eternal Witness or if it's already in play, bounce it back with Temur Sabertooth and recast it, all at instant speed with Yeva, Nature's Herald, get Squall Line back, and cast it again. By that point, mana shouldn't be a problem. Never cast Squall Line or any X spell for all of the mana in your pool anyways. That's just asking to be Mana Tithed or Force Spiked.

I would immediately change Oran-Rief, the Vastwood to Terrain Generator. And is there a reason you don't just have Squirrel Nest, Green Sun's Zenith or Genesis Wave

May 21, 2017 7:36 p.m.

Lol why? That's a ridiculous change. And the reason for none of the other three is I don't like playing easy mode. They're boring cards that serve no purpose in this deck. This isn't every other monogreen deck, it's a burn deck.

May 22, 2017 7:27 a.m.

Why don't you add a Hurricane? Same spell, just sorcery speed

May 22, 2017 4:13 p.m.

Looks like you answered your own question! Nice job! Also, since my way of winning basically requires that I have all the mana and all the cards, I should only need one way of doing this. It's more my style to wait to actually win with the Squall Line in response to someone else's game-winning play or attack. Stealing the win is significantly more satisfying than just casting a big X spell.
