Eloniel I don't think that Welcoming Vampire is very viable in this deck for an extra draw each turn. Or let me say it the other way round, i wouldn't know what to take out for it. Faithbound Judge  Flip looks interestin, but very cost intensive and would take a little bit too long to "kill" someone. It would probably be removed the second it is enchanting a player :D

TrollDecksOnly Thank you for your kind words and I love the idea of the Donald Trump playmat. I'd love to get Arcades altered at some time :) For the og Duals, I would just remove one basic land each, since they also can be tutored/fetched. For Gaeas/Ancient Tomb I would probably remove two of the check lands or City of Brass. I honestly think that you don't need those mana artifacts, since they wouldn't do "that" much, same goes for the non-defender-dorks, they would probably slow the momentum of the deck down. The deck lives from drawing cards while playing defenders and they don't add much to that. For Sylvan Caryatid Vine Trellis I'd just remove Wall of Roots and Wall of Kelp.

MurrSheep Turned out to be too slow and for the 3 mana of its equipment costs rather play a Defender adn draw a card :)

Hey K4m4r0,

So I come back to the mana base with the slow lands:

Overgrown Farmland

Deserted Beach

Dreamroot Cascade

I don't suggest boseiju, because I think we have enough removals/counterspells.

Awesome deck - great job with finding support synergies that go along with this Commander. I hope you keep us updated with any changes that come out with Kamigawa on the stack!

Have you tried Assault Formation or Catapult Fodder in this deck?

April 13, 2022 6:58 a.m.

Eloniel says... #6

amarthalerAssault Formation was in a previous version of the deck and I still have it in mine but it's often a dead card. And Catapult Fodder  Flip is not in our colors.

So the 3 defender from Kamigawa Neon Dynasty were not really interesting (Guardians of Oboro, Bamboo Grove Archer and The Fall of Lord Konda  Flip

But the 2 news one from New Capenna seems much more promising:

Errante, Street artist

We will not copy often our own spell but a 0/3 flash and haste for 1 is in my opinion better than our current 1 mana 0/4 option.

Suspicious Bookcase

Could be useful to let a bigger wall make it through, for one mana it would be a no brainer, for 2 it might be harder to justify it.

Ah, good call on Catapult Fodder - not sure how I missed that. I appreciate the feedback on Assault Formation however. Again, love your deck build!

Hey K4m4r0 you might be interested by that (and maybe also my preceding posts):

card:Weathered Sentinels enter image description here

It's awesome a wall that become an indestructible 8/8 with vigilance and trample for 3 !!!!

card:Rigo, Streetwise Mentor

enter image description here

I'm not sure it would be better than an Esper Sentinel or a Rhystic Study because you still need to attack but at least it's unconditionnal draw.

It was a very long time we didn't had a set this interesting for Arcades.

Eloniel Hey Eloniel, thank you for keeping the posts up! I haven't had much time for Magic in the last months, so it became a little quiet here. From your suggestions I like Weathered Sentinels the most. It's pretty cool, that Errant, Street Artist hash flash, but I need to compare it with the cards in the deck, same goes for Suspicious Bookcase. Too bad we could never copy a single spell :D

amarthaler I haven't tested it, but for 6 mana it doesnt seem that good honestly. I'd rather play (something like) Triumph of the Hordes.

IamJesse I have more time for Magic in the coming weeks/months, I promise I will make updates (if necessary)!

K4m4r0 Nice to see you here, you came back just in time.

There was some Dominaria United document leak with lot of cards so I checked for defender creatures and 3 seems interesting in our colors:

Coral Colony {1}{U} Creature — Wall 1/4 Defender {1}{U}, {T}: Target player mills X cards, where X is the number of creatures you control with defender. (To mill a card, a player puts the top card of their library into their graveyard.)

Walking Bulwark {1} Artifact Creature — Golem 0/3 Defender {2}: Until end of turn, target creature with defender gains haste, can attack as though it didn’t have defender, and assigns combat damage equal to its toughness rather than its power. Activate only as a sorcery.

Wingmantle Chaplain {3}{W} Creature — Human Cleric 0/3 Defender When Wingmantle Chaplain enters the battlefield, create a 1/1 white Bird creature token with flying for each creature with defender you control. Whenever another creature with defender enters the battlefield under your control, create a 1/1 white Bird creature token with flying.

Eloniel Damn those are some nice spoilers. They all sound pretty fun! Wingmantle Chaplain is a bit expensive but those tokens also work with Umezawa. I don't know if it is "needed", but ~7 birds on average could be nice.

Sweet!! Nice to hear that you're going to be back I literally bought this deck card for card.

My group does play sol ring though and I was wondering what I should take out for it.

IamJesse Hey there and welcome to the team! I hope that you enjoy the deck as much as we do and please share your experience with us! Totally depending on your playgroup, but if I had to include Sol Ring, I would probably remove one of the counters (like Dispel for example).

You could also just take out Skyshroud Claim for Sol Ring.

Made a list similar from my Gay Kings Group Hug list a while back… Wall of Glare… Didn’t know that existed. Also, I kinda like Builder’s Blessing over Bar the Door because it’s a permanent boon for 1 more mana. Other than that, kinda the more actualizas version tbf

Any thought to E. Honda, Sumo Champion?

December 4, 2022 2:48 p.m.

K4m4r0 says... #19

turkinaa E. Honda, Sumo Champion is way too expensive for his value. The first ability seems nice, but wont work without High Alert, since Defenders can't attack by themself. The second ability is way too bad for 6 Mana. While he looks pretty good, he sadly is way too slow.

@TrollDecksOnly: I think this is one of those cases where more ramp doesn't improve the deck. To fit in the duals, just cut some basics, for cradle cut a forest. Petal is straight up bad in this deck, as is Mana Vault. Mana Crypt is just a better land, so just cut one more basic.

Since the commander is so important for the deck it'll be killed regularly. If you boost it out using creature-mana and then get board wiped, you're not playing him for multiple turns, somewhat shutting off the deck. Similarly with artifact mana. So TBH, I'd put all the other cards in other decks. Again the average cmc of this deck is 2.12, you don't need to ramp into a quick Ad Naus or something. Just take it slower and hold countermagic ready, then explode on the board.

The only thing I could see to improve the deck would be Triumph of the Hordes and maybe some cheap tutors like Mystical Tutor and a little more 2 mana land ramp, like Rampant Growth, Steve and so on.

Love Arcades, it's my number 1 deck to play.

I found Meekstone to be counterproductive tho. Since you are running big but walls, often opponents tent to send their attacks to other players. Meekstone limit these attacks.

Great list! I added Sacred Rites to my list after seeing yours :)

K4m4r0 says... #23

Hey paperponcho, thanks for your feedback. I agree, that Meekstone is kinda situational, but it saved me more than once from big swings (especially if it's only between me and the last opponent). But feel free to replace it, but share your replacement card with us :) Glad, that you also like Sacred Rites, not everyone is a fan!

A bit torn on The Battle of Bywater. If I'd run Retribution of the Meek this would be an easy swap, but is it better than Wave of Reckoning or Fell the Mighty? Way cheaper yes, but also as powerful? Would be really good for the cmc, but Food won't do much for us in this deck.

Also Shire Scarecrow can be good for mana fixing, but I have no clue what to take out :D

Hey K4m4r0 I saw you never added Weathered Sentinels why ?

Or maybe you didn't spent time to update the deck ?
