No suggestions, I just really appreciate how you broke down the way the deck functions. I'm trying to more earnestly get into EDH and am nostalgic for the Good Old Days(TM) when silly decks didn't get stomped immediately, and this is right up my alley. I'll be sure to give you credit if I end up making my own defenders-that-attack deck. :)

Cyb3rguerrill0 Thanks, thought it was a fitting quote.
Gabolicious Thank you. Hope it helps, even if it is strtaight forward. I think it is pretty strong and can compete very well (outside cEDH Meta). Have fun with you deck!
ILToD2773 I think that everybody should build it in their own way and fittet to their own meta/playgroup. The one thing we have in common is the love for big stompy defenders!

Just wanted to drop a comment here to say thanks! I just built my first EDH deck based your deck list and all the discussions made from this comment thread! I've always loved Bant colors and enjoyed playing Assault Formation during its time in standard around 2016 when I last played MTG! So hearing that Arcades exists (and has decks on a good budget), it got me excited to return and build an EDH deck! Really enjoyed the discussions on this thread and I learned a lot!
I hope I get the chance to play with Arcades soon! I just have to look for nearby hobby shops and try to make new friends to play with. I'm excited!

Azeure Thank you for your comment and your story! I'm delighted that the deck list has inspired you and I wish you lots of fun and success with it!

K4m4r0 Of course the new Crystal Barricade is a nice addition to the deck to protect yourself against combo, and your creature from Blasphemous Act effect.
I also see that you never added Flumph, which can be a pretty good political card.

We also got a new redundancy card in the form of Plagon, Lord of the Beach which draws more cards the more walls we have on board.
Compared to Walking Bulwark, it makes Arcades a legal target which can swing for 5 commander damage.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? Seems like a good add.

Azeure To be honest there is plenty of redundancy that we don't play:
The only one worth running for me is High Alert because it does both "every creatures with defender may attack" and "they assign combat damage equal to their toughness" for every creatures without having to pay mana to apply the effect.
The second best one for me is Assault Formation but i still cuted it. Bedrock Tortoise is almost playable, if either the hexproof was not conditionnal to your turn or if it's mana value was 3 instead of 4.
For 3 mana we usually have 0/7 defender without abilities Glacial Wall / Wall of Ice or 0/6 with abilities Hover Barrier ( i don't take into account the 2 very good 3 mana drop that are Wall of Denial / Weathered Sentinels).
So now let's review Plagon, Lord of the Beach, Plagon is only a 0/3, don't deal damage equal to it's toughness without paying 1 extra mana each time, it's doesn't draw us a card with Arcades and it's ability only fufill one of the 2 needed condition for redundancy as explained above. I agree it could draw us lot of cards, ranging from 2 to 5-6. If we didn't had draw engine in the command zone i would say it worth it, bu since we have one i don't thinks it's necessary.
It's already very hard to find room for each new creatures cards, i'm already having hard time finding room for Crystal Barricade and consider removing Brave the Sands from my deck. A 3 mana creature has to be really really good to make the cut in Arcades now, and i don't speak about 4 mana creatures. I'm still on fence regarding Corrupted Shapeshifter since the only 4 mana creatures i play are Arcades, Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa and Tree of Redemption, and i wonder if i would not rather include Towering Titan instead as another wincon.

Eloniel Ohhh! Thank you for the in-depth analysis on Plagon, Lord of the Beach. I completely missed the fact that it, by itself, would be useless as an attacker since it doesn't have Defender. I completely agree now that it would simply sit as an unstable draw engine.
Been also wanting to add Weathered Sentinels for a long time on my Arcades deck but it's currently still too expensive and I wouldn't want to exceed my $100 budget. So it's gonna be either that or Crystal Barricade.
I was also finally able to find the opportunity to play Arcades on a complete pod after returning and also agree that Brave the Sands seems like a good choice to be swapped out for a wall with better utility. Since most of the time, opponents would have blockers for the walls on the ground while the evasive ones I'd rather play safe and use for swinging instead of using as blockers.
Thanks for bringing Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa up, after looking at him once again, I just realized that he would actually work well with The Pride of Hull Clade! I was mulling over him since Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive doesn't work with him which puts the 15 toughness to waste if the opponents have blockers. I'll probably bring him back in my deck as well after some testing.

Oh, and what do we think about MDFCs? Particularly Sejiri Shelter Flip as an additional protection spell without hurting our manabase (aside from slowing it down a bit). I've been thinking about adding this card as well and it seems like a good choice.

Azeure Arcades is a deck that you can upgrade over time when new defender are released. The first version i built based on K4m4r0 version didn't have all the defenders release the lasts 5 years.
Regarding MDFC indeed it's a great way to increase the land density, i would not replace one of the 35 land by one but instead having 35 lands + 1-2 MDFC .
Bala Ged Recovery Flip, Sink into Stupor Flip, Witch Enchanter Flip and Glasspool Mimic Flip could also be considered. But personally i wouldn't know what to cut to add them. But i would love a MDFC land on a Bar the Door effect.

Another suggestion that might worth include in this deck is: Invasion of Ikoria Flip, a tutor or recursion on the front and a wincon on the back to make all our defender unblockable.

There's also a new wall that's straight up an upgrade to Guardians of Meletis from Foundations! Rune-Sealed Wall
November 24, 2024 12:38 a.m.
Indeed but I removed Guardian of Meletis a long time ago. We have better walls for 3 manas. The surveil ability is nice, if the wall was a 0/7 it would be an instant addition. At 0/6 it's debatable.

Hey Eloniel, the answer is pretty simple: I haven't bought it yet :) I'll put it in my next order and try it in the deck.
