Thank you so much Fleetfiend. I think you deserve a lot of the credit for helping me so much. All I have left to do to finish my deck is modify the lands.

i would go Rancor over Sunspring Expedition a 15/15 nixilis that can be blocked buy a 1/1 goblin isnt worth all that effort. a 15/15 with trample instead..... :)

or probably is just better to take out all blue card and go rancor over ior ruin and kick out the roll elemental

If you can afford them fetchlands work best with landfall.

devid666, Rancor doesn't really help that much, because the real benefit from Nixilis is his burn. If you read the description, however, I am considering taking out blue, though I am loathe to take out the draw power. xD

devid666 says... #6

i know that his power is the burn but why not fasten up your victory? if you get countered some spells, or your hand discarted or something similar and you are left with a 8/8 nixilis...what do you do? just attack is really not enough

Ob Nixilis, the Fallen is one of the worst landfaller finishers.

It is easily removed has to run on land to do anything and often times is slow. Not bad, but not the best.

Cards like Rampaging Baloths , Emeria Angel and Avenger of Zendikar are the best because they create tokens that work best with more landfall but they can work without it for a few turns with a token army.

I think I disagree with you, alpinefroggy, about Nixilis. His burn is very effective; in combination with Scapeshift , I can often deal a killing blow with one fell swoop.

alpinefroggy says... #9

True it can make for a turn 4 win and is insane. but if you want to run scapeshift just take the much more efficient RUG varient with Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle . An example is a top 8 at GP toronto here:Linky

nixilis is not that bad but.....on yor 3rd turn Nixilis >> opponent : Arc Lightning ... your 4th turn: Scapeshift >> opponent Lightning Bolt , Incinerate , and so on. too fragile for my taste.

December 17, 2012 1:38 a.m.

Fleetfiend says... #11

Well for one thing there is no one in my current meta that utilizes that much burn, and as such he isn't too fragile for MY taste. XD in that sense he isn't really that much more fragile than any of the other creatures, and he isn't quite as susceptible to certain removal spells such as Doom Blade . And if something is giving me trouble, Dash Hopes is in the sideboard and the other creatures are still in my deck to use in his absence.

Wood Elves + Shocklands > Farhaven Elf

Krabik you have a point, but shocklands hurt my wallet. I have a G/B and G/W one, but I intend to use them for trading. X3

Well i think the little problem u might have with this deck is against a faster deck: 3-4 turn combo pyromancer, 2-3 turn infect, 2-4 turn red deck wins, 3-5 breakfast ,affinity or even against a control ban, if u have black and white u need to add more removal for early game.

If you dont get the the Lotus Cobra the deck starts doing really something on turn 5-6? that's a problem i guess...

What you really need: 4xPath to Exile the #1 modern white removal, plus in this deck it has a bonus in case of emergency u can remove 1 of your creatures (can be a token) and get a land fall for 3 dmg or destroy a permanent who knows!!

Other removal you can consider: Dismember , Surgical Extraction , Go for the Throat , Inquisition of Kozilek or 4 Dawn Charm to hold early... im not sure about what i'm saying but think about it :)

Some nice suggestions, thanks steelux.

Any suggestions on what to take out for some early removal? Profane Command (though it's good for later removal) and Rootborn Defenses (though it's good for protection) maybe?

I definitely like the double-functionality that Path to Exile could provide.

i would stay only with 2xAdmonition Angel & 2x Rampaging Baloths because of its high cost maybe add some turn 1 mana creatures like 4xLlanowar Elves or 4x Birds of Paradise .?

I really dont like Profane Command because, again, its turn 4+. Also Rootborn Defenses have a little problem to protect you early, you need some creatures and this is the problem you only have 4 Lotus Cobra that can be there before turn 3. So maybe add the cheapest way to protect you Fog ?

I a similar problem with a deck im trying is too damn high on mana cost.. so im looking for ways to make it faster.. if you find a way ill be glad to know about it

Well, with all the mana seeking it's usually not a problem to cast the 5 and 6 CMC creatures when I get them. I may try it out and playtest it though.

Thanks for the help. :3

Maybe a mana acceleration package would be4x Birds of Paradise 4x Lotus Cobra 4x Knight of the Reliquary and 4x Llanowar Elves or even 4x Noble Hierarch ?I have seen this work in a couple of decksI would cut one copy of each of your finishers to make more room for lower cost support spells. Nice deck though.

nikolaTloncar says... #20

why no rites of flourishing?

January 29, 2013 8:36 p.m.

Fleetfiend says... #21

nikolaTloncar, largely because I don't like cards that benefit my opponent as well as myself. It puts us on pretty much a level (though raised) playing field, and if I'm going to spend mana, I want it to be on something that will give me a boost Just personal preference.

Explore is also a good card advantage in this deck

January 30, 2013 12:44 p.m.

Fleetfiend says... #23

Yup, steelux, that's one of the cards I have listed as an option on the deck's primer.

Kittacus says... #24

Some one-drops such as Steppe Lynx might be useful, as well as being late game powerhouses.

October 22, 2013 4:39 p.m.

Fleetfiend says... #25

@Kittacus Yeah, the Lynx is a staple of a different version of the build that I mention in the primer. I've thought about including it, but in the end, I realized that I don't need powerhouses in here, with Nixilis, Admonition, and all the tokens.
