I think Urza's Incubator could be removed for Chromatic Lantern. In general, I notice vampires tend to have very color heavy mana costs, and Chromatic Lantern can help if you don't draw the exact colors you needed while still ramping you. I don't think enough vampires are hit by the cost reduction on Urza's Incubator for it to matter more than once a game or so.

Also, consider Skullclamp to draw off of the tokens that you create, since keeping a full hand in commander is so important.

If you are running Path to Exile, why not run Swords to Plowshares? If you are using it on an opponent's creature, the incremental life-gain is much less impactful than an additional land imo.

Not sure if this messes up your colors but I think Insolent Neonate could be a good upgrade to some of your one drop vampires since his ability is more relevant in a late game topdecking scenario. Along the same lines, Shadow Alley Denizen may be better than a Pulse Tracker type card as well since intimidate can be stronger than draining opponents for one (and every vampire activates it with the token!). Viscera Seer can also take advantage of the tokens you create and help smooth out those draws.

Attrition was a very underwhelming card for me for just one reason: Nonblack. A card that can be completely useless against one of the most popular colors in commander can be dead a lot of the time against a lot of creatures you want it to remove. Herald’s Horn could be good in this slot as a ramp/card advantage engine, or Mind Slash if you still want to 1 for 0 your opponents with your tokens. Inspiring Cleric also seems underwhelming, since 4 life in commander is so little and lifegain isn't a great effect in the format in general unless you are all-in on it. Consider Drana's Emissary as a replacement if you still would like the lifegain, but a card like Olivia, Mobilized for War could be better, if you have extra cards or madness vampires. Rakish Heir may also be a good replacement.

ihmnp Thank you for the suggestions. I took your advise on a couple of cards. I will be playing again on Wednesday and see how it goes.

It's magnificent and definitely gives me something to think about going forward with my Edgar deck. It has brought to light more cards I could use for my Edgar deck. Seriously, Cover of Darkness beats the hell about out of Stensia Masquerade.

MrXilas, Stensia Masquerade I feel would also be great in this deck, I just wasnt able to find one until now.

AlistarFiend: I've been trying to decide if I can balance Maquerade, Cover, True Conviction, and Iroas in mine.

MrXilas I think True Conviction would be difficult to get to the battlefield with required to cast unless you are playing more Plains.

AlistarFiend: That's a solid point. As much as I love TC, there is probably more efficient things I can do with 6 mana in a three color deck.

I highly recommend Nirkana Revenant she works really well with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief to take out pesky indestructible creatures, if you aren't running Dark Impostor.

Did you purposefully avoid the classic vampire infinite combo of Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond? I would recommend having one or the other, alone they are strong cards and people know the combo so it is likely to be disrupted. It can however be handy to end that 6 player game after three hours...

All and all you made some interesting choices.

Necropolis Regent would also fit well. Classic build, +1.

Too bad MTG vampires all have fangs in canine location! Bring out the inscisor fangs already!

I dont't get why Sadistic Skymarcher is so popular. Did I miss some mechanic? How about Forerunner of the Legion? Tutor and booster in one.

rofldiekatz, thank you for the great suggestion. Forerunner of the Legion has replaced Sadistic Skymarcher.

Hey AlistarFiend! This deck looks great, I can see why you've created such a popular source with your take on Edgar Markov. Lately I've been playing a Hyper Markov deck that takes eminence to the extreme with 50 vampire creatures. What is the main drawback that keeps you from adding more vampire creatures to your deck? Regarding specific cards, Conqueror's Flail seems like a good card, how has it worked out for you? I'm also curious how Raging River works and how you use it. Thank you AlistarFiend!

I run a very similar deck to this and actually came across this deck after putting mine together and we damn near came up with almost the same thing lol I run probably 85-90% of this deck and actually learned a couple tips and tricks from finding yours! +1 one of the best I’ve seen def helped me out on my quest due to my meta I have to run more removal/spot removal for the cats I play but bravo

Def helped me kinda speed up/get the most out of my land slots although I wouldn’t mind playing some of em on this list I either have never came across some or lack the coin for others but I dig the land selection

Hey man, love the numerous ways of synergy u have put into the deck! Most Edgar decks are mainly pure aggro but i love the playstyle with the control-build into it. I hope u will take a look at what i have made of my deck so far " Bloodline of an Ancient Coven " if u could give me some advice, that would be much appreciated ! Thanks upfront , Greetz

You should be running Oathsworn Vampire for the infinite combo with Phyrexian Altar and the replayability. You get infinite triggers of any etb, vampire cast (except edgar), or death effects.

for a Aggro deck, this deck seems to have a very high cmc average. personally I would load it up with 1 drops and 2 drops and keep a few bombs (read: lords) in the deck that pump your vampire army. my edgar deck, found here: Edgar Markov, Lord of Clan Markov is 2.49 cmc average, which is very low. I do like your inclution of Athreos however is brilliant, I think I'll add him to mine as well, since he's only 3 cmc. Legion Lieutenant is a cheap and great vampire lord to include. creatures I suggest removing: Vampire Nocturnus 3 black mana is very demanding for a 3 color deck, especialy if it only buffs your creatures some of the time. Olivia Voldaren this creature is a magnet for removal and costs a lot of mana investment to be worth it. Captivating Vampire is just better and cheaper. Butcher of Malakir and Anowan, the Ruin Sage are very good if not dealkth with, but like Olivia, they are very frowned upon and you will be targeted hard when you play them, which is why I opt not to do it. instead I play small creatures then just create a huge army very quickly. you will also want a way to givve your creatures haste, like Hammer of Purphoros and Anger . if you don't have a way to put it into the graveyard just keep attacking with it until they are forced to kill it. Coat of Arms is very bad. if any of your opponents are playing trial, it buffs their creatures too, instead consider things like Shared Animosity and for protection and evasion, consider adding Eldrazi Monument which makes all your creatures indestructible and gain flying. if you really want planes walkers, I would add Sorin Markov instead of the sorin you have now for his -3 ability. when you cast him, -3 him right away putting your most dangerous opponent to 10 life right away. it also gives them another target besides you to focus on, if they don't deal with him, you +2 him again on your next turn and then the turn after that someone else is on 10 life. I hope this helps a bit or gives you some suggestions. have a look at my deck linked above if you like. I will be adding some of your things to my deck now, like Athreos.

Good list! I am a big fan of Edgar Markov.

I like that your deck is geared towards a faster-paced, lower CMC than my version. I do see a few tweaks I would make if this was mine.

I can't imagine Reliquary Tower is very useful in here, with the low mana curve. I would use Path of Ancestry instead.
Vindictive Vampire seems slow, I would be tempted to switch it out for Falkenrath Aristocrat which pack more punch for the same cost.
Kindred Dominance is on theme, but an update to Ruinous Ultimatum would be in order.
Another upgrade from new releases would be to change Unbreakable Formation to Flawless Maneuver.
Finally I would want to remove Raging River to make room for Berserkers' Onslaught.

I have found I had to lose Skullclamp from my build, because my Vampires almost never have 1 toughness.

Playing Athreos in here is such a good idea, I am definitely adding it top my own Vampires Tribal.

Hope this inspires you!
