Thats why dash hopes HAS to be mainboarded in any mono blacks. You wanna cast that spell? Its gonna cost a quarter of your life, and you should really only cast dash if you have 2 in your hand so you if they wanna play it, half their life, is any spell (short of a win condition spell) really worth half your life on turn 4?

Finally, something we agree on, fetches shouldnt be here at all. You shouldnt build around the idea of playing against a certain kind of deck, but you are flat out screwed to blood moon here. I would kill your fetchies and just go basic blacks.
February 10, 2017 1:55 a.m.
Bulldawg1310, no. Dash Hopes should be main boarded? No. Just no. It isn't a good card.

How do you figure? Its pretty much the only black counter spell.

Especially when youre only running thoughseize and no inquisitions. Youre gonna need some kind of threat to controlling your opponents board.

This deck at this point has nothing but potential, the lands gotta get re-configured, in my opinion, you dont need lili of the veil, lili of the dark realms wprks better mono black, i hate bloodghast personally, i understand its a popular card but i prefer aetherborn or black knight. The geralfs messangers i love along with phyrexian oblits, and gary is the dude, you just dont have enough early game threats. And if gary gets countered in your late game (your screwed to mana leak) more than likely, youll lose.
February 10, 2017 2:34 a.m.
I once tried Dash Hopes it doesn't work against burn (or really any deck for that matter), you just don't have enough pressure for them to care, they'll be perfectly fine with you using your turn to counter a spell, since their deck is fully capable of drawing tons of gas. While it works when you are in top deck, it's otherwise terrible.
Also, Liliana of the Dark Realms is not built for a midrange deck period, all it does is give you a swamp in most matchups, and at it's best it's a kill spell for a a creature with toughness 3 or less for FOUR MANA when it drops. What would you rather draw a 3 drop planeswalker that hates on almost every deck in the format and can win games. The only credible replacement for veil is Liliana, the Last Hope as a 1-2 of of in combination with 2-3 veil.
Whip of Erebos is how you beat the UWx decks, as if you stick whip, you can keep getting value out of garys and obliterators while gaining life.
I do concur however that some additional discard in the side would be nice. As even Duress should have a place since you need discard to hose decks like Tron.

I also recall Lashwrithe in combination with Bloodghast being a very annoying and resilient threat against many opponents.

Murderotic, i dont dislike the list, im saying there are no early game threats, therefore you need things that are going to A(get your midrange creatures out early, and B(protect them while they are out. Or C(you can add efficient 1 and two drop creatures to give you some fucking board presence. Right now hes hoping to get his obliterator out on turn 4 every single time(not always gonna happen) and then immediately be able to drop gary by turn 5. If it does happen (doesnt get countered, or terminated, or victim of nighted or whatevered) chances are, lili is dead by then and youre only doin 6 damage anyway.

Oh, god, thanks for the laugh!
Now, I gotta say, you probably want to run a couple of Inquisition of Kozilek in the main. I'm not too fond of Gatekeeper of Malakir. Other than that, I would have to playtest before I can suggest anything else.

I've found Nightveil Specter to be a good card against Jund and control.

I like the list, looks strong.
I have a few suggestions. Consider cutting Arena and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. In my experience with MBD the colorless lands hurt you more often than they help you.
I strongly recommend a Sword of Light and Shadow in the 75. It plays the role of Whip of Erebos and offers some protection from Path to Exile.
I feel like some number of Bloodsoaked Champion should be cut in favor of more removal, discard, or possibly Gurmag Angler. As for what removal, I tend to lean towards Go for the Throat more than Dismember but it could go the other way if you encounter Affinity & Infect often.
How has the deck performed so far?
February 11, 2017 12:13 a.m.
Didnt read all comments so not sure if it already was suggested but maybe put in Gravecrawler?
February 12, 2017 5:59 p.m.
considered a, but not enough zombies. Would have to waste slots on bad cards like Diregraf Ghoul to make it work.

If you're really that concerned with burn, Dragon's Claw is an excellent sideboard option.
February 22, 2017 9:38 p.m.
I don't think Dragon's Claw is all that good if you don't have red spells to trigger it yourself. In a non-red deck like this, Sun Droplet is probably superior. But Gifted Aetherborn fits the devotion plan and also helps matchups where a deathtouch blocker is relevant, so going with that option seems very reasonable. Collective Brutality complements it nicely, since all three modes on the card are fantastic against burn.
If you are really worried about burn, replace a couple of Thoughtseizes in your maindeck with Inquisition of Kozileks, that switch really helps in the matchup.

Dragon's Claw is quite good vs burn but I prefer Demon's Horn because it's relevant in more match ups even if it's not as good vs Burn.

It's working pretty good so far. Artifacts are trouble though. The only card I can beat a resolved Ensnaring Bridge with is Grey Merchant of Asphodel. Maybe another Lost Legacy on the sideboard.
February 23, 2017 11:33 a.m.
I doubt Lost Legacy is what you want if you are concerned about artifacts, as it's unable to interact with them. Ratchet Bomb could help, and Shrieking Affliction is a way to punish an Ensnaring Bridge strategy.
February 23, 2017 12:56 p.m.
yea I was actually thinking Ratchet Bomb would kill it too, eventually.

2x Overgrown Tomb and 2x Creeping Corrosion for the SB.
If you really wanted to keep it mono black Rite of Consumption or Syphon Life can be Ensnaring Bridge work arounds.

Also the fact that fetches are run makes this deck worse against burn since you have to burn yourself to fetch basics.
