Not In My House!
Blue control is a very touchy subject almost everywhere you go. This deck makes it hated! 16 counterspells, 5 removal spells, and 10 draw spells make this a classic blue deck. The green splash is for Prophet of Kruphix, which is included because untapping on everyone's turn is practically a lockdown for everyone except you. Combine the prophet with Arcanis the Omnipotent and you get an almost guaranteed win. Drawing 3 cards on everyone's turn is the purest form of card advantage. Stormtide Leviathan is the main win-con in this deck, an 8/8 that can't be blocked that makes it very hard for your opponent's creatures to attack generally results in a win. Other notable cards are Hypnotic Siren,
Sphinx of Uthuun
, Thousand Winds, and Delver of Secrets
. Hypnotic Siren removes your opponent's largest threat and makes it your own.
Sphinx of Uthuun
is a Steam Augury for on-a-stick, also good for mono-blue. Thousand Winds is another AEtherspouts that is even more surprising. Delver of Secrets
is a great tempo start as mentioned by Fouler which sets us ahead by a turn or two by becoming a 3/2 flier potentially on turn 2.
The perfect starting hand is as follows:Temple of Mystery, 2 Islands, Prophet of Kruphix, Delver of Secrets
, a draw spell and a Counterspell.
Turn 1:Island. Delver of Secrets
.
Turn 2:Island. Now you can start the lockdown.
Turn 3:Temple of Mystery. Continue the lockdown.
Turn 4:Island or Forest. Keep it up.
Turn 5:Island or Forest, and Prophet of Kruphix. At this point, if you have any amount of card advantage in your hand whether it be
Foresee
or Arcanis the Omnipotent, you've practically won the game. From here on out, if you still have counterspells in your hand, your opponents will have to beg if they want to successfully cast any of their spells.
Turn 6:Island, Arcanis the Omnipotent.
Turn 7:Island.
Turn 8:Island, and Stormtide Leviathan. Now your opponents truly know that the end is near, and can do nothing about it.
I hope this has helped you understand what this deck is all about. I would appreciate any feedback and card suggestions. I do have a budget, so please keep that in mind as you make suggestions.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my deck and for any suggestions that you make.
Have fun and good luck in your Gatherings of Magic!
