From now on I will be making shorter updates, noting difficult situations for each game and deck changes.
So I decided to go to FNM this week regardless. This deck still has not disappointed with how fun it is to play, but I definitely ran into more issues this time as the meta begins to take shape.
Match 1 - B/U Control W (2-0): Luckily, this was against one of my buddies, so we already new what we were getting into: a counter fest. Nothing too big to note here. The deck handled rather well, and my addition of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar really helped in finishing the game more quickly. He attempted to play Lost Legacy in the second match, which could have caused some issue, but I countered it with Negate and kept going from there.
Match 2 - R/W Vehicles L(0-2): This deck was savage. He used Thraben Inspector, Smuggler's Copter, Fleetwheel Cruiser, and a few other vehicle-based cards that I don't care to list out, and destroyed me. I had only a few answers, and I drew none of them. I sided in Fragmentize and Ceremonious Rejection, but I only drew one, and didn't have enough to deal with the onslaught of 1 and 2 drop creatures swinging at me.
Match 3 - Grixis Control W(2-1): I thought this deck was going to be another counter fest, but he actually had a lot more cards like Unlicensed Disintegration, Grasp of Darkness, and Ruinous Path. The first game, he was able to get out Chandra, Torch of Defiance and Liliana, the Last Hope, and he was able to get their emblems. I shook off the Liliana emblem for a few turns, but Chandra emblem killed me immediately. The second game, I was prepared. I had sided in Imprisoned in the Moon, Dispel, and a second Torrential Gearhulk. He couldn't play much, so I flipped the table on him in this round by playing each of my planeswalkers, finishing him off with Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. Last game burned down to turns. I had control of the board throughout the game, and got out each of my planeswalkers again. I was about to finish him off with Gideon, Ally of Zendikar when he played a Torrential Gearhulk, and cast Ruinous Path on my Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. In the end he gave me the win since I would've had him on the next turn.
Match 4 - R/W Vehicles L (0-2): Yeah... This guy was friends with the guy who ran the other Vehicle deck I went up against (also happens to be the same guy who ran the Bant Copter deck from last week). I got rolled again. I knew what to side in and everything, but the Smuggler's Copters come out too quickly. However, facing these guys gave me alot of insight about what I needed to change in my deck.
Summary
I needed ways to deal with
Smuggler's Copter and other vehicles. I feel this will be a simple fix to the sideboard, since I just need more reliable ways of dealing with them. As such, I've added in two more
Fragmentize into the sideboard, and I've added three
Immolating Glare which will help me deal with the copters much more easily.
