My first attempt at building a BfZ standard deck.
My objective is to keep the opponent's board clear for the first 5-6 turns, amass some land creatures with
Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper
, and fly over them with flying land creatures thanks to
Halimar Tidecaller
.
Roil Spout
Allows me to control their draw step in the late game, and my hope is that they'll peter out with only 1 or two creatures.
I can keep the board clear in the early turns with
Horribly Awry
, and
Stasis Snare
. I like to save
Scatter to the Winds
until the late game so I can net a land creature, but in a pinch I can use this as an early game counter as well if I have to get rid of something immediately. If I can't keep their board state under control in the early game, I have Planar Outburst to clear their board, and keep my creatures alive.
Anticipate lets me filter through my deck, which helps me find what I need early game.
Dragonlord's Prerogative
,
Coastal Discovery
,
Halimar Tidecaller
and Blighted Cataract give me fuel in the late game to give me an edge, while opponents are stuck drawing the same cards turn after turn.
I play 28 lands not only because land is important in a control deck, but because I'm making my lands subject to removal by turning them into creatures. Always having land is even more important in this control deck than conventional control decks. Also, I'm able to sqeeze in more land because I'm playing so few creatures. The extra land makes Guardian of Tazeem a lot better as well.
Open to all suggestions and feedback! Need help building a sideboard :)
