I wanted to make a deck that both had fun creatures to work with and at the same time, controlled my opponents.

With these thoughts in mind, Maelstrom Wanderer seemed like a perfect commander that both had the fierceness and creatures that would enable me to control and pressure my opponents.

I don't really have much experience making G/R colored decks, but this is what I have managed to cook up after some thought.

Advice and suggestions on more fun combo/creatures are needed ! And while you're at it ! hit that +1 too !

Updates Add

Its been a while since I made an update, but since, recently with my new full time job I thought id revisit MTG.

Iv been playing with a friend of mine at a local MTG EDH heavy gathering place and noticed my deck could be functioning a bit better. Here are some changes I made to make the deck more consistent.

Zhur-Taa Ancient - This card was first put into the deck kind of as a double edged sword. It was meant for explosive ramp/group hug friendly situations. But, these days I noticed my opponents were taking more advantage of the card then me.

Wurmcoil Engine - Kind of sad to let go of this card but with so many ETB effect cards in my deck without much grave-recursion, I thought I could find better and faster cards for this creature.

Shardless Agent - Every time I would cascade into a mana dork or sol-ring, I just had to face palm and wonder why I even have this card in the deck. Out it goes.

Prophet of Kruphix - For obvious reasons, the card was banned. RIP my sweet love.

Defense of the Heart - I'm debating on keeping this card in. But, I thought it would be cool to replace it with Gratuitous Violencefoil and see how it goes.

Overrun - When I had a good board state and had this card, it worked okay. But, I thought generally it was just a dead card in many situations.

Terramorphic Expanse - A pretty slow, color correction.

Time Warp - Probably one of the best cards I can think to cascade into with my commander. Never hurts to take an extra turn. Also, can do some fun things with Spelltwine and Eternal Witness.

Spelltwine - Probably one of the most underrated cards in my opinion. With big game-winning cards like Time Warp, Tooth and Nail, I thought it would be appropriate to put this card in. Also, I can steal big spells from other graveyards.

Recurring Insight - One of the big things that I noticed with my EDH deck was that I ran out of cards really quickly. With the strong mana ramp, I thought it would be okay to add an expensive spell to draw potentially 7+ cards.

Brainstorm - Just a neat utility card that's good in the early games AND be useful if you cascade into it.

Gratuitous Violencefoil - Experimental card. It has a low enough mana cost to play early, and it makes my commander really threatening.

Trygon Predator - Good removal that is potentially reusable.

Maze of Ith - An amazing utility land.

Clever Impersonator - Fun ETB synergy and stealing opponents strong nonland permanents.
