I've played around with the idea of Hive Stirrings (i have 4 full-art ones) but they don't really fit in this deck imo. Door of Destinies i don't like it because it takes too long to get out and the game is usually over or i already have a butt load of slivers on the board already.

and as for modern, this will remain standard till next rotation.

Dude I really like this deck but I was under the impression that thorncasters ability isnt stackable. That is why I only run one of him. Whether you have 1 or 4 thorncasters slivers gain the same ability. If I am wrong then he is far too powerful a card !! :)

VinnieVici Thorncaster Sliver s effect is stackable. having more than one one the field means that, even if they aready have that effect, they gain another trigger per thorncaster/predatory/steelform/megantic or what have you.

this deck is a lot like the sliver deck I play except I maindeck bow of nylea and garruk. have you had any success in competitive play with this deck? I'm still in the process of acquiring the necessary shock lands before I can run with it. Why no stomping grounds?

the land base is explained in the description. I've had some success using charms and such. last FNM I entered late so I ended up with a 3-1 and 6th place out of 30

Beck / Call with Manaweft Sliver and Blur Sliver is insane, follow it up by popping Legion's Initiative to alpha strike them.

May I suggest Gods Willing over Ranger's Guile ? Protecting a sliver while having a complementary scry wouldn't hurt anyone (except perhaps your opponent...). You can also lower your Megantic Sliver to two copies. Remember that Ready / Willing has great synergy with this deck since you can either cast the Ready half for free, or destroy attackers paying both sides with Manaweft Sliver . Loose that Gruul War Chant and get some Glare of Heresy in there.

I've already gone over Gods Willing in the most recent update. Glare of Heresy is an excellent idea, I've been Ponder ing on what card could go in that slot.

beck / call is awesome. i have been looking for a way to get more cards out in my sliver deck because by turn 5 i am always empty handed.

that's what Domri Rade is for... Garruk, Caller of Beasts is good too

The Bow of Nylea with Thorncaster Sliver is epic, I can now justify the cost for Thorncaster in our Sliver deck. Also we totally missed Gruul Charm that gives us defense against fliers and the combo with Manaweft Sliver at start of turn to tap opponents creatures without using our lands. We had Aurelia's Fury but will sideboard that for control decks that use instants in combat.

Some differences in our Sliver deck; We opted for Signal the Clans as we can cast it for free with Manaweft Sliver out to draw at least one potent creature that can help and is way cheaper than Domri Rade . We also opted for Ogre Battledriver over Blur Sliver as it gives the Manaweft and Striking Sliver that extra punch as weapons in late game.

Thanks, Best Sliver Standard I have seen

I like the idea of Signal the Clans because I'm in the acquisition phase atm. I'm trying to get 3 Domri Rade , 3 Ready / Willing , and a Thorncaster Sliver

Why would you run Sentinel Sliver over Hive Stirrings ?

October 30, 2013 3:14 a.m.

sentinel sliver is a white bear, that happens to give vigilance to all my slivers. this has a few applications, first is that I can attack and still tap my other slivers for mana, second reason is that I'm never left wide open when he's out. this last one is particularly good when I have Striking Sliver and/or Bonescythe Sliver out when being attacked by deathtouch things ( Sedge Scorpion ).

also, imo Hive Stirrings doesn't fit in this particular sliver deck. hint hint: Garruk, Caller of Beasts and Domri Rade don't work well with that card.

Fair enough, I do like the sound of Sentinel Sliver , now that you put it like that.

Something I run in my own sliver deck is 2x Door of Destinies . The reason being that every card, literally, is a sliver, and they will all get the bonus from the card. Might be seen as overkill, but there is never such a thing in competitive M:TG, is there?

November 1, 2013 7:56 p.m.

I don't think so, the only deck I've seen Door of Destinies in is green devotion tribal beasts. cuz of mana ramp.

November 2, 2013 1:05 a.m.

the ONLY thing this deck fails at is responding to flying creatures

toss in 2-4 Mizzium Mortars s, or Gruul Charm maybe jus a few plummets and ignore the lowbie flyers but take out say Seraph of the Sword

November 3, 2013 5:34 p.m.

I like Mizzium Mortars , I'll probably put three in. I've got the charms in the side-board, Seraph of the Sword doesn't fit the tribal theme. But the angel has potential for a junk angels deck, even though it's vulnerable to removal.
