Omnath, Locus of Rage is old news. It's about time we recognize Black for the Ramp Monster it can truly be.

So Here's the Deal

Black can pull off most archetypes relatively well, but these Omnath, Locus of Rage decks immediately started showing up everywhere when the spoilers were released. I figured I would take some time to make an Ob Noxious (Ob Nixilis' Nickname) deck to see how nicely he plays with all the cards that have been printed since his time.

The result is pretty great.

Why That Card?

Altar of Shadows is normally pretty slow and inefficient, but you are definitely going to need something to blow your mana on once you have more than you know what to do with, and what better outlet than one that kills things?

Mishra's Helix is just going to be super easy to use since your swamps will probably be tapping for like bbbbb

Ward of Bones belongs in any deck that is super focused on building itself up in a particular manner. If you're super focused on getting lands, and you don't particularly care about creatures, Ward of Bones will make the game MUCH easier to manage.

Hedonist's Trove is just in here filling a spot for a suggestion or maybe an unprinted card that will fit better. However, it would be pretty funny if you used it after playing every land in your deck, just so you could keep playing other peoples' lands.

Erebos, God of the Dead is also a placeholder, but he works pretty well as a Greed, since he can attack, has indestructible, and doesn't allow your opponents to recover from the loss of life from Ob Nixilis, the Fallen.

Plaguebearer is another card that allows you to continue being productive when you have excess mana.

Thrull Parasite really does seem bad to most, I'm sure, but in reality, I know for sure that I am going to thank myself for adding it to the deck at some point. Also, if nothing else, it's kind of helpful even as a 1 drop enchantment with extort.

Death Cloud WILL bait a counter spell, so save it for when you know your opponents might not allow your fun stuff to resolve.

Dimir Machinations is a good spell by itself, but can also search for Mana Web or something.

Consume the Meek kills chump blockers that are in Ob's way. He needs worthy opponents.
