Obscuring AEtarka

Standard RG (Gruul)

Curchanus

Sideboard

A very nasty Red and Green standard deck full of explosive surprises. It sits somewhere between Aggro and Midrange, capable of swinging in nasty 5/3 tramplers at turn 3 and building up from there. With Atarka's Command, Obscuring AEther and Trail of Mystery the deck is almost guaranteed to accelerate out lands before your opponent, bringing in large morph threats extremely difficult to answer, such as Ashcloud Phoenix, Hooded Hydra and Deathmist Raptor. With Den Protector and Whisperwood Elemental for card draw, your enemies will learn to fear the unknown morph.

Went two to two at FNM. The deck seems to do fairly well against Abzan match ups, particularly after sideboarding in Outpost Siege. However, Whisperwood Elemental just straight dies to removal. I learned how much better Ashcloud Phoenix is over Atarka Efreet, and that Wildcall isn't really good at all. Crater's Claws and [[Atarka's Command] won me quite a few games.

I am -2 Atarka Efreet +2 Ashcloud Phoenix I am -1 Wildcall for +1 Outpost Siege

Also, I would like to give a little shout out to Obscuring Aether it is the little engine that can completely ignore a boardwipe before swinging in for 2-6 or surprise chump block an enemy.

As a final note, I really need a better sideboard against token-based decks, looking at you Barrage of Boulders
