Due to my love of white mana and their high power level, angels have long been a favourite of mine. Therefore, it felt like it was only a matter of time before I built a deck around them.

When considering colours and commanders, due to angel's higher mana costs and the fact that creatures are obviously a big theme, I decided that green was necessary in order make sure angels can be cast reliably. Then, when analysing the tribe further, many of angel's standout creatures need red mana ( Gisela, Blade of Goldnight and Aurelia, the Warleader to name a few). As a result of this, I decided that Naya was the way to go.

As for commanders, I first considered Mayael the Anima . I later dismissed her due to the fact that a lot angels that I wanted to use have less than 5 power, making them difficult to use. This left Samut, Voice of Dissent . Angels having haste makes the tribe so much faster, and being able to untap creatures allows you set up decent blockers while still playing aggressively. Add in that the untap ability can abuse mana dorks well, and I decided Samut was the one.

While I am fairly happy with the list thus far, there are a few things that I think could be improved upon. Firstly, I think it needs more - or just better - card draw. Nothing worse than having a small hand when an inevitable board wipe hits. Secondly, I reckon I have too many enablers. Obviously I wanted to have ways to protect these high cost creatures but I reckon I may have went too far in that direction. Maybe some them could be subbed in for more aggressive angels or card draw.
