HELP WANTED drain their life to increase yoursThe main point of this deck is to gain as much life as possible to mitigate any damage your opponent can do, buying you time to drain their life.
Below is an explanation for why I picked the cards I did. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Life gain:
Rhox Faithmender: amplifies all other life gain in the deck. The best part is they stack and are tough enough to deal with many common types of removal.
Obzedat, Ghost Council: 5 mana to drain 2 every upkeep and immune to sorcery speed removal, and the card that made me want to build a life drain deck.
Heroes' Reunion
: 7 life for two mana at instant speed, all the better if you have Rhox faithmender out.
Thragtusk: we all know thragtusk is good. 5 for 5 life and a big body with removal resistance.
Centaur Healer
: 3 mana for 3 life and a 3/3. Baby thragtusk.
Removal:
Oblivion Ring: removal with no type limitation. Also useful on an opponent's Detention Sphere. This is the best way I've found to deal with planeswalker reliant decks without r/b(Dreadbore).
Orzhov Charm
: remove any creature for 2 mana and some life... In a life gain deck.
Win conditions:
Obzedat, Ghost Council: slow but steady, just keep draining their life. Sometimes it's worth attacking with him but usually you want to keep him safe.
Chalice of Death
: chalice is here as a win con. Drain 5 per turn if you can break 30 life. Usually no problem.
Vizkopa Guildmage + Exquisite Blood: infinite combo in standard. You win if they can't remove something.
When all else fails you can just attack them. You'd rather not but sometime s they just leave you no choice.
Sideboard:
Blind Obedience: haste? What haste? Blind obedience can really hurt haste & flash based
Ray of Revelation
: This is my best tool against the current crop of bant aura decks going around the standard meta.
Rest in Peace: hurts reanimator and other graveyard focused decks.
Pithing Needle: extreme utility against a wide variety of decks.
Glaring Spotlight: This is the only sb card I'm not sure about. It gives a second benefit against bant aura, but I don't know if I really need it.
