So my playgroup is going crazy competitive and I feel like I can't compete unless I get something even relatively close to their power level.

I chose Obzedat, Ghost Council because it works so well with Descent into Madness and Smokestack, has a ton of stax support in its colors, infinite combos, and able to control the opponent's stax. This was not made to make friends, this is made to survive through hellish conditions and win knowing that the first infinite combo will fail.

Mentality to play this deck: You know you're not going to get past 7 lands before opponent starts doing dumb things that might instantly win the game or prevent any more interactions. This is why there's nothing above 6 cmc. Patience is key when against other stax players, for whoever acts first, activates last; but haste against combo.

A few neat interactions:Descent into Madness + Obzedat, Ghost Council /Smokestack = Everybody loses everything sooner or later, but you'll keep your commander after all the chaos is over

Helm of Obedience + Leyline of the Void /Rest in Peace = stop combos and kill a player

Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond = kill everybody and works well with commander even alone

Pariah + Stuffy Doll /Guilty Conscience = kill a player

Chalice of the Void + Trinisphere = Please stop playing the game storm and a goodbye to a majority of removal
