  • Gaining life off of creatures dying is really good in this deck, but attempting to combo off with Ad Nauseam is one of the main focus's of the deck now. Ashes of the Abhorrent underperforms in my meta because of a lack of graveyard decks. For that reason, I'm choosing to cut it and add Chrome Mox.

  • Athreos, God of Passage has come and gone through this deck multiple times. Each time I'm excited to add him, but he inevitably gets cut for the same reason. Drawing Athreos past turn two or three feels like a dead draw. Dealing three damage to an opponent or getting our creature back doesn't tend to have the payoff we'd like, but with Orcish Bowmasters I think we'll see a lot more value. Gaining more instant speed interaction while reducing the deck's CMC for Ad Nauseam is great, and with the amount of tokens and mana dorks running around my tables, I think the card will over perform.

  • Council's Judgment is a great card in most decks, and it used to do a ton of work in this list; however, it feels way too slow now. Especially since it's a sorcery speed removal spell. Cutting removal in this deck never feels good, but with the deck's new shift towards survivability and adaptability and it's newly found focus on Peer into the Abyss and Ad Nauseam, Flare of Fortitude seemed like a no brainer. Although it is lacking Split Second like Angel's Grace, the ability to cast it for free by sacrificing a white creature really helps it shine. Essentially giving us another way to draw our whole deck and win with Sickening Dreams.

  • I truthfully hate to see this card go because it's won me games, but in the deck's current state it's a bit too slow. It's also pinging us for 5 damage off Ad Nauseam. Goodbye Crested Sunmare, and hello Mox Opal. Another mana rock will really help us combo off as early as possible. I'm hoping that Metal Craft won't be too difficult to obtain, but we'll see.

  • Lightmine Field isn't as great as it seems to be, so I'm choosing to cut it for a similar reason as Ashes of the Abhorrent. The ramp provided by Mox Diamond will be invaluable when attempting to combo off with something like Aetherflux Reservoir or Ad Nauseam.

  • Ocelot Pride has been a recent addition to the deck, but it feels like it's underperforming. Especially since Ocelot Pride only triggers at our end-step, and with the additional cut of Crested Sunmare, we're no longer leaning into our previous "go wide" or token strategies. Unfortunately, adding Peacekeeper does increase the overall CMC of the deck, and having to pay {1} {w} could be steep at times; however, I've had this card win me games in other decks. It's a great stax piece. Especially since my meta has so many token decks. I'm excited to see how the card performs in this slot.

  • With the inclusion of Sensei's Divining Top, Ad Nauseam, and a plethora of tutors, I figured it was time to include the Surveil land in the deck's colors. Out goes a Plains, and in comes Shadowy Backstreet

  • Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord was the deck's only graveyard recursion, but at four mana, I feel like it's slower than what we'd like to achieve. Pinging for one and potentially triggering Karlov is good, but again, at four mana, it's not the best use of our resources. Shifting away from attacking also makes Sorin's static life gain less important. Loxodon Gatekeeper is a phenomenal stax peace. The earlier we get it out, the faster we outpace our opponents.
