I might have to include Murder instead of Devour Flesh if Obzedat becomes a big enough deal. The reason Devour Flesh is there at the moment is: I don't really care how much life they gain and it allows me to kill Geist of Saint Traft .

I personally disagree while things like Snapcaster Mage , flashback standard cards such as Lingering Souls and re-animator decks still exist in the format, maybe after rotation it'll be a good replacement.

Thanks, both of you :)

whats that have to do with dissipate vs psychic strike?

Dissipate exiles the spell so it doesn't go into the graveyard when countered, therefore it can't be 'flashed back'. Whereas Psychic Strike just puts the spell in the graveyard (+ the mill effect). Really I would put it in the sideboard against decks where the graveyard is irrelevant but I don't really have the sideboard space to spare and I'd rather be safe than sorry. If my local metagame decides to stop running decks where they like replaying spells then I'll definitely sub it in because it helps Nephalia Drownyard (all be it barely).

You need more walkers. Like ten more.

There's a lot of removal I could use and I think I've got a good balance at the moment, but if something isn't working out I'll be sure to try it :)

Nope.

I should probably explain myself a little more. You want at least 2 sorin because he can easily crank out wins if Obzedat doesn't fall through. Liliana of the Veil is basically a 3 cmc Cruel Edict that takes a hit for you, with a huge bonus against other control match-ups, and with how quickly she dies (not a bad thing) you will most likely want a playset. If you do decide to add her, remember that you should almost always use her -2 as soon as she hits the field. If you get a +1 and an additional -2 out of her, that's just icing on the cake. Tamiyo, the Moon Sage is also very good, but you only want to run 1-2 of her considering that there are not to many spells in esper control her ult can easily abuse. I also recommend running an additional jace, since he provides such an amazing set of abilities to draw from. Don't take my word for these changes, test them out yourself and see how you like them. Have fun with your deck. =)

the main thing i have to say is that Obzedat, Ghost Council is not good in control decks, due to the fact that you are going to have to use board wipes a lot, which is why you have 5 in your deck, and you will always have to use them thats what control does, and it just kills obzedat. he is best in midrange decks, i would advise running either more board wipes or more snapcaster over him

Thank you for the more constructive comment. I think I'm going to need to flesh out the description of how this deck is run to not waste other peoples time or my own. My main (but not only) win con really is Nephalia Drownyard with assistance from Obzedat, Ghost Council for added life gain and pressure. I may add another Sorin, Lord of Innistrad but for the moment i would rather keep him as a one of as there are (in my opinion) more important pieces which need to be in. Devour Flesh IS Cruel Edict in this deck really, I'm not at all worried about them gaining life as long as I'm not losing it. I did run Tamiyo, the Moon Sage at one point but took her out as she didn't really synergise well as I would like, I think I'll try her again though, maybe. All those planeswalkers might be great but it's not the deck I want to be running/set out to make. Thank you very much though :)

I disagree, I think Obzedat, Ghost Council is very good in control decks. He doesn't turn on my opponents removal, gains me life, helps stabilise and is a great finisher. Sometimes I do kill him, but only when I need to, and even if he's only there for 2/3 turns he does a LOT. Against aggro decks once I've burnt them out with removal ( including board wipes) he finishes the game in a matter of turns. Your tone is rather patronising for someone who seems ill informed.

Haha, first person to get my username.

Replace the Jace, Architect of Thought with Jace, Memory Adept And I agree with m12fox about the D-Spheres, O-rings, and snapcasters.

February 19, 2013 6:52 p.m.

you definately need 3 Snapcaster Mage 4 Azorius Charm 3 Detention Sphere and 3 or 4 Think Twice . I don't know how much you want Obzedat, Ghost Council But I feel it doesn't really fit in this deck without Restoration Angel to maximize it's potential. After seeing Pro-Tour Montreal I'd also consider 4 card:Sphinx's Revelation.

February 19, 2013 7:01 p.m.

They're in the sideboard if I need them but I keep a wider range of removal mainboard. I've playtested with more and one seems about right for this brew. Now, why would I do that? You're probably thinking it'll help mill but Jace, Architect of Thought helps me control and is so much more useful to me.

I just suggest the Memory Adept because he wins games very quickly. If you can protect him for 2-3 turns, anyone except reanimator is pretty much down for the count.
