Odric and the Keyword Pals

Modern Budget GW (Selesnya)

Rednefed

Sideboard

The goal of this deck is to get Odric, Lunarch Marshal out with as many of the keyword abilities that he can affect. That said, full disclosure, the secret to this deck is that it simply plays good creatures that individually have good keyword abilities, and are just laughably good with Odric.

Narnam Renegade is always a fun turn 1, because it always makes our opponents think twice about attacking in, but if you have Implement of Ferocity, or Evolving Wilds, getting that revolt trigger is nice, even if you have to wait a turn or two to make it proc.

Double strike is always good, so we're running 9 sources there. Flying is evasion, which from my play-testing seems to be a useful thing, so we have 8 sources of that. I must admit Zetalpa, Primal Dawn was mostly to be slightly cheeky.

16 of our 22 creatures are 3 CMC or less, all of which proc Bygone Bishop, of which we have 4. Clue tokens are love, clue tokens are life.

On that same note, Odric is removal bait, so if possible, try to drop something else nasty first. I've found that Solemn Recruit rarely lasts long once your opponent realizes that when paired with a single Implement of Ferocity, you now have a 4/4 with double strike. The aforementioned Bygone Bishop is also a popular target for removal, which does hurt you more than the Solemn Recruit.

From what I understand of the term, we are effectively a mid-range deck, so the ability to say "I don't like you having nice things" as needed is useful, so we're running both Stasis Snare and Declaration in Stone.

Currently, you can get this deck, including tokens for $52.69 on TCGPlayer, though if you want to tighten the budget a bit more, the mana base is what I would hit first, as you could probably simplify that with cheaper lands to save a good $10 to $15. Blossoming Sands, Graypelt Refuge, and Selesnya Sanctuary are the ones I would look at, as you can get play sets of all three for a total of $1.06 currently. The slower lands hurt, but not too terribly, as that's pretty much what I had for about a year.
