Trying to build a deck around the mythical Gods & Dragons theme of MTG. Any suggestions for improvements on this deck would be highly appreciated - ATTENTION!!! BEGINNER - BE GENTLE! xD
I'm playing it like this:
Start with Swamp or one of the black combo lands (hooray for early life points!), usually gives me at least 2-3 cheap Deathtouch Blocks and prevents most opponents from early attacks.
Build up a good mana pool, play Brood Keeper and Furnace Whelp for some Dragons, play plenty Enchantements on Brood Keeper and her offspring, deal some damage with the flying creatures. Typhoid Rats and Pharika's Chosen still make the opponent think twice before attacking with larger creatures - I only lose a 1 Mana creature, they might lose the center of their deck strategy...
Chandra is a nice addition in this stage if at hand. She can take out my opponents cheap defense or simply give me an additional opportunity to draw some of my strategically important creatures or play some additional mana. Her third ability is a killer, especially if the target card happens to be Grave Strength or Friendly Fire.
By this time, I usually have more than 5 Mana and can play Profane Memento (if not played already) and then Phenax and Keranos. Crux of Fate gets rid off all those annoying opponent's creatures (and some of my own, but who cares... Grave Strength and Outpost Siege even turn this into an advantage). Now, my life points should be well beyond 25, and the opponent either has lost quite a few life points or played a painful amount of cards.
And that's why both Gods are in this deck: I can now choose whatever strategy is most promising - I either kill my opponent with Keranos and the remaining Dragons, or I push Phenax's and Keranos' toughness to the limit, use Phenax's ability and gain tons of life points while killing my opponent's deck.
What do you think? Is my deck working? What should be changed? What should be added? What should I get rid off? Let me hear your thoughts about the deck. :)
