That is correct and pretty epic if I ever was able to pull it off! Thanks for the sideboard help, too. Pitching needles have generally been used against control decks to deal with Elspeth or aetherling, both of which can be tough to remove in the right deck. I think I do need to sideboard in rubric thar. I will be play testing tonight so I'll update. I generally haven't had too many issues with Jana because I run eight red sources and all the cards I need red for only require one if it's a problem I'll be putting in a couple of caryatids, though. Thanks for the help!

And sorry for the typos in the above response. Autocorrect ruins my days when I'm in a hurry.

x1, but Skylasher should totally get in the main board or side board. He's amazing.

Skylasher is pretty awesome. What would you recommend taking out of my sideboard for it? Esper control and bant walkers are big at my store but not as much mono blue.

Ive been having mana problems when I play this deck! I also run a different variation where I run Mizzium mortars in the mainboard and I have 0 domri rade, other then that it seems this deck is pretty powerful!

Ruric Thar, the Unbowed doesn't really fit so you should probably take out him

I usually don't have any problems with mana because of all the dorks and the coursers which allow me to fish for land. That actually makes a huge difference! With this deck, I keep a hand only if it has at least four sources of mana depending on my opposition (couple lands and any combo of elvish mystic, sylvan caryatid, voyaging satyr, courser of kruphix, xenagos, the reveler) which usually works fine. But there has to be lots of mana with the high CMC!
As for Ruric Thar, the Unbowed , he makes a good sideboard card. I sideboard him in against control since this deck has the most trouble with Esper. Since his casting cost is so high, many kill or counter spells have been used by the time I can cast him so at the very least the control player has to take 6 to get rid of him. I just sit on my planeswalkers while he is on the field and play creatures. He does some work!

Signal the Clans is a great card to pull out the creatures you need

That's not a bad idea! I generally use Courser of Kruphix , Domri Rade and Garruk, Caller of Beasts for card draw. What would you remove for signal the clans?
April 3, 2014 4:36 p.m.
Maybe a Courser of Kruphix or two, simply because their effects don't stack, and Having two on the field seems pretty redundant.

That's fair. The only thing I don't like is you have to choose one at random, I'm not sure how helpful that may be.

Ok, let's say you have a butt ton of mana. Pull out a Polukranos, World Eater a Stormbreath Dragon and a Worldspine Wurm . No matter what you pull out, you'll be happy. Maybe just less happy then you hoped for lol

But doesn't it specify that "IF" you take out three creatures with different names then choose one at random? couldn't you just take out three of the same? (that's kinda pointless but hey, having extra copies against control decks is always an upside especially if its a game changing creature) *** I'm looking at you esper...

mabye Homing Lightning to help with fatties that pump each other

Yeah it's pretty pricey. But it could be cut down in price while still maintaining some of the best parts. Like Garruk into worldspine wurm. Neither of those are too bad right now.
July 30, 2014 11:37 p.m.
i think you could use more ramp. preferably something to untap nykthos. also Quicksilver Amulet or elvish piper might be good
NerdPounder says... #1
You actually have a turn 2 Worldspine Wurm in this deck. t1 Elvish Mystic , t2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx , tap the Mystic and the mana you played it with for 3x Burning-Tree Emissary , activate your Shrine with the leftover mana for 7, play Garruk, Caller of Beasts -3 into the big daddy wurm himself.
That being said, I don't think 4x Pithing Needle is necessary in the sideboard. You have mainboard answers to things that you needle, like planeswalkers and such and that room could be better used with trump cards like Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and answers like Unravel the Aether . I would also run some number of Sylvan Caryatid to make the fact that you're barely touching red a little bit easier
