I have Witchbane Orb why would I use Leyline of Sanctity instead?

Deck is super suicidal, but honestly it hasn't been that big of an issue. Seems to stabalaize between 12-4 life.

Witchbane orb is too slow against the matchups, that you need it for. (rdw, ad nauseam etc) You don't need it in the fourth turn anymore and don't count on shaman as a mana dork (against RDW at least) I would side in white leyline, chalice of the void or dragon's claw (from the best to the worst)

To the mana base, I would cut a few fetches, cavern of souls or/and add 2 urborgs. 3 isn't a problem, pox and lili can both get rid of the additional copy.

well I've play tested this vs RDW several times, and just now again since I couldn't remember how the match plays out when u asked. Today's tests were vs Burn Baby Burn

Yea DSR catches Searing Blaze like 100% of the time.

I hadn't thought of using Chalice of the Void in this deck, but RDW isn't much of a concern to me. It would make sense in that match up tho as DSR is what I'd take copies of out of, and then set the Chalice to 1.

Another option I've been considering, (play testing with it in another deck) is Defense Grid

Funny card that grid, could be great against uwr. I still think that orb is too slow, I played against Ad nauseam few days ago, he had a white leyline out both games and killed on turn 3 (I played a similar deck to yours with lot of hand disruption, after the tourney I changed it for legacy as it is more viable there) Also RDW players can side in some artifact hate for the orb.

Post the results after some tourney plays, it would interest me how the deck fares in competitive metas.

What makes u feel I should drop some fetches?

I only own 1 copy of Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth but because it's legendary I haven't felt the need to pack more than 1.

Personally 9 feels like the right number. I've been considering adding in another Misty Rainforest and 1x Snow-Covered Forest or 1x Treetop Village just because if they take out my Overgrown Tomb than this deck relies only on DSR to be able to cast Abrupt Decay & Maelstrom Pulse I could maybe add a Twilight Mire instead.

I've also been considering adding Scavenging Ooze . Maybe in place of the Surgical Extraction s. What do u think?

Cavern of Souls doesn't have any synergy with this deck, but it does allow for free protection vs UNFAIR/Control/Counters. It's a new addition after I recently played vs a counter deck that loved to annoyingly bounce everything. DSR being able to hit the field can make a difference when the opponents game plan is to reuse their graveyard :)

well... my challenge is finding a tourney within driving distance on a day I have off from work. ...but first chance I get I will do. I really want this to be a competitive deck, and after buying Lilly's & fetches, it cost too much for it not to be lol. Personally I can't wait to get my deck tore to shreds by far more experienced players and learn from it.

A dude I know who topped 8 in BoM 8 with pod uses 7 fetches for pod, you don't need 10 with just a green splash. (blood moon is a real thing)

3x urborg is the way to go imho, because you run 3 edges and the treetop village also is a great idea to have 2 copies of. The legendary does not matter with smallpox and liliana of the veil.

Ooze is just a great card, you can't go wrong with it and surgical extraction indeed is a rather SB card.

Also mabye use some sword instead of lashwrithe.

You're correct about not needing them. After I grab a single Overgrown Tomb there isn't any mana the deck demands I won't have. However I really love the interaction with DSR becoming a mana dork and want to make sure I have access to it as much as possible.

I've been beyond happy with Lashwrithe 's performance. I've considered replacing it with Batterskull but I like that Lashwrithe can be attached for life instead of mana. It also has living weapon, which makes it more useful when topdecked late game. Which sword would u recommend?

It looks like the same deck, just with ooze in it, try to achieve one good version.

Lashwrithe is a good card but swords are just simply better, I would choose light and shadow as nr. 1, but obviously fire and ice is great too.

well this is the main version but I've been going back and forth on ScOoze for a while. Can't decide on which version I like better.

It won't work without them, they are the finishers.

I know how wonderful Lotleth Troll works with Gravecrawler but every time I try Lotleth Troll in modern it under performs. I'll put him back in but deff leaving the vine out for Scavenging Ooze

Have you thought of running Bloodghast for added damage and resilience.

Loving what I am seeing though, looks like it must be a fun deck to play.

I like This Hurts U More Than It Hurts Me because it really fits the theme. Not sold on the wording, but deff like the idea behind it. I'll see if I can tweak it maybe.
