Thanks for the comment on my deck! I will come back and comment on your deck once I have time... I have a busy couple of weeks but I'll get to it at some point!

Draw well,

you could use Spell Crumple as well as Hinder and Junktroller for tunnel vision.

Hello! I like mill decks too. But in multiplayer... Well, why not?
Some ideas:
1) Keening Stone. Of course mana cost is high but on the other hand it works, doesn't it?
2)Startled Awake  Flip + Trepanation Blade. Cast Awake, then return it transformed, then attach Trepanation Blade to Persistent Nightmare  Flip and attack.
3) Elusive Tormentor  Flip transformed into Insidious Mist + Trepanation Blade.

Thanks for the upvote lucal13! I look forward to any suggestions you might have in the future.

Well jamindragons, I could add Spell Crumple but honestly if I have one of the pieces in hand, I can tutor the other, and otherwise it's not really worth it for such a janky combo. Thats why I didn't add it. Thanks for the comment though!

Thanks DRmagic2017 for bringing up that first point! I actually have Keening Stone in the deck (it has won me games) and just forgot to add it to the list. As for using Trepanation Blade, it doesn't really fit well with the style of the deck. Most of the time a play a land and a big wall and pass the turn, opting for defenders rather than attackers. I would definitely use that in a Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker or Szadek, Lord of Secrets deck but Phenax is more passive. Thanks for the upvote and the suggestions!

I would suggest adding Sphinx's Tutelage, it turns every draw into some extra mill.

This looks exactly like what I've been meaning to turn my Mirko Vosk deck into. I'm running few creatures, and a lot of control, but I still rely on creatures to win games with it, so I get destroyed by removal every single time. Your list doesn't only seem better at controlling matches but is also much better balanced than my own.

I ran Oona, Queen of the Fae in the 99, which is not only a big butt, but also mills, making more bodies that you can tap for Phenax, as well as the already spoken Sphinx's Tutelage, those might be helpful. Induce Paranoia is also one of my favorites in this kind of deck, working two very relevant functions.

I've now been scrapping my Mirko Vosk for parts and trying a Nekusar deck in its place, but as soon as I get a few games with it I might come back to the mill deck trying some iteration of your list! Seems pretty cool! Well deserved upvote!

Thanks to Luferreiras, AmishDeathSquad, i24, nabeers, Traumitz, Alkadron, and GS10 for the upvotes!

So Chandrian and GS10, on the subject of Sphinx's Tutelage, while it is a good card I think it just doesn't translate well into commander. Well mostly I just think other things are better. If I had an extra slot I would definitely use it.

GS10 I do love your other suggestions though. Oona, Queen of the Fae is a great mana sink that also mills and makes tokens and mills more with Phenax out. I'll be working to fit her in! Induce Paranoia is also a perfect fit, the only problem being I don't really know what to take out! If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear those also but thanks for the help!

Lord.of.Innistrad, I tried to steer clear of single use single target mill cards. They may work well in smaller formats but even 13 cards out of 300 just isn't enough. Illusionist's Bracers on the other hand is a perfect fit for this deck. Combo it with a big creature and something like Thousand-Year Elixir and you're milling 30 cards a turn (give or take). Thanks for the suggestion!

Paradox Engine is good.

dankmim, honestly most of those cards I have already rejected for one reason or another. Some for obvious reasons (Glimpse the Unthinkable is $30), some for more complicated reasons (Mesmeric Orb makes me the common enemy). Also Fog Bank's booty just ain't big enough. Thank you for the suggestions though!

I used to run a Lazav which then turned into a Phenax mill deck. A couple of suggestions I have are Traumatize, which is more personal preference because I know some people just don't play it because its annoying to count out half the deck rounded down. Also Archive Trap is great against people who tutor a lot, Jace, Memory Adept is a great mill planeswalker but is a bit costly.

Might I suggest Hedron Crab? It's a fantastic one drop to have early game, and it keeps milling all throughout the game without having to spend any mana.

I would also back up the claim of including Jace, Memory Adept, simply because higher mana cost does not matter as much in commander as it would in say modern or standard. I use this Jace in my mill modern deck myself, and it is very useful.

Also, if you are going to use many cards that cause you to draw a lot, might I suggest Thought Vessel, or something that produces a similar effect. It can be a gamechanger if you do decide to use Jace, Memory Adept, and use his -7.

Why aren't you playing Life's Finale? It's a board wipe that mills 3.

Carmasem for Induce Paranoia and Oona, Queen of the Fae I'd likely take out some clone effects.

In my Mirko Vosk deck I ended up cutting both Dimir Doppelganger and Evil Twin, especially the Twin, is okay to copy a Commander and keep killing it, it is awesome against something like Meren of Clan Nel Toth but it's somewhat hit or miss. Maybe Body Double, since Lazav, Dimir Mastermind has Hexproof, or the other around, since Body Double gets ETB triggers, it will heavily depend on your meta. But I'd probably go with cutting a few clones into some more control, for the same reason you don't consider Sphinx's Tutelage that good in EDH: Milling doesn't scale that well, and even the faster mill decks find some walls that need being dealt with.

And keep in mind that if someone wants to stall you, the original Eldrazi Titans, Blightsteel Colossus, Serra Avatar and such keep going back into the deck, so they might find a way to stop you from milling them, and in that case you should have a few exile spells up your sleeve. Duplicant is a good one, considering you are running clones to begin with, Phyrexian Ingester is awesome and Reality Shift is an incredibly underrated card. So if this becomes a problem in your meta in the future there's some ideas on how to deal with it.

The combos are scary. Thank you, I'll be using this as an idea base for mine.

Dreamborn Muse? This creature appears so harmless to others, and in my experience only dies to a board wipe. I had one game where it alone must have milled 100 cards total.

Any thoughts on Guiltfeeder and Wight of Precinct Six?

Just checked this deck. Nice idea, but a bit too slow in my opinion. Needs a bit more removal such as Doom Blade or Vendetta. I would chuck slow cards such as King Macar, the Gold-Cursed or Sphinx of Magosi. Your choice.

As a proud owner of a Phenax deck for 3 years now, I can highly recommend it.
Geth, Lord of the Vault was in mine originally but probably only ever got played three times in the two years he was in the deck. You can most likely cut him from yours.

Have a look if you like! Steal some ideas if you see something you like. Phenax's Devotion to Amnesia

Also never cut King Macar... ever. The sheer amount of legwork I have seen him pump out is astounding. He stands at the complete opposite end to Geth.
