So since I got back into Magic, I've been playing an Izzet deck based around one-shotting people with a very large
Nivix Cyclops
but also trolling people with a well timed
Counterflux
. But with that deck losing some parts to rotation, I thought it was time for a change.
Basically, I am in love with Desecration Demon. There, I said it. The idea behind this deck is to apply pressure with some little guys and maybe get some scavenge fodder going, then the real fun begins once I get a Demon on the field. The enemy will probably sac a creature to avoid getting kicked in the head, but they don't expect the Burst of Strength or
Savage Surge
to immediately untap and further buff my Demon up to a 8/8 or more.
The instants are to obviously untap the Demon, protect my guys, and get pesky blockers or other threats off the field. The lands are pretty standard, of course once Theros duals are spoiled, those will be in there, along with color balancing, should that be required. Speaking of rotation, I'm trying my best to keep this all post-rotation, so let me know if there's any cool new Theros things that would go well here, and avoid Innistrad where possible.
Finally, inspiration comes from MinscAndBoo's fabulous work on Let's Play Untap-the-Demon.
