Kird Ape made me decide to build this deck. A turn 1 2/3 with Taiga is indeed quite powerful, and will almost automatically become a 2/3 by turn 2. All for 1 mana!!!
Adaptive Automaton and Metallic Mimic buffs all your apes, necessary against the tempo cards like Tarmogoyf
Birthing Pod, a powerhouse in and of itself, brings out your situational apes, like Ravenous Baboons and Uktabi Orangutan
Kari Zev, Skyship Raider although not an ape herself, creates a menacing little buddy, and who can resist that cuteness!
Nikya of the Old Ways is helpful, as most of the deck is creatures, and all the other spells revolve around finding and playing other apes.
Hooting Mandrills: Well, what am I supposed to say??? This card is insane.
Scrounging Bandar is a 2/2 for 2 with an upside to move its 1/1 counters to Kird Ape, etc. for one big beasty boi
Simian Spirit Guide is the only source of ramp, and not even bad if you just need to play it
Treetop Village turns into one big ape, for not that much mana
