Some key cards you are missing in your main board: Chain of Vapor, Mystic Remora, Dovin's Veto, Drown in the Loch, Flusterstorm, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, Merchant Scroll, Gilded Drake and last but not least good ol' DAd Nauseam.

Thanks for the input! I will test what you suggested when I can. Still testing the current list as of now.

Hi! First of all, I dig the concept of the deck, it seems quite cool to play. That being said, I agree with GhostChieftain this deck it seems like is borderline cEDH or maybe "far from Top Tier cEDH" and that might limit the "home" of the deck. I'm lucky enough to have that kind of meta, and if that's your case, bingo!

Otherwise, one think I did is share about 20 cards between a Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain Storm Stax cEDH deck and a Sydri, Galvanic Genius battlecruiser deck (much more casual). That way I'm playing artifacts no matter what, but in a complete different fashion!

Anyway, I wish you all the fun of brewing! :D

Thanks! Yeah, I am in the process of pushing it fully towards cEDH. My group is closer to high power on the edge of cEDH, but I will need to test the deck more to find what cards I want and what is holding it back. So, I am testing it as much as I can. Right now I can't test it all to much, but when I can, I will update the deck and make the changes I can. Hopefully, I can test it at my LGS once this virus passes and test it against more variety of decks.

GhostChieftain I updated the current decklist. Let me know if you have anymore suggestions to add or remove. Thanks!

I would drop yennet, erebos, and a couple lands and put in the counterspells in your maybeboard. It is looking pretty good overall though.

GhostChieftain I don't think I agree. He has a 6 CMC Commander and fetch lands. Also he already has 9 Counterspells, I think that's more than enough!

If he shifts the deck into fully cEDH territory then yes, I would do that you say, but I would go as far as say cut more lands and add a bunch more of fast mana. But as it stands, I don't see cutting lands and Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign (which is really good) for counterspells!

MurderForBrunch They are in the process of fully pushing into cedh with this. I am not sure how yennet is good for counterspells though, wastes 5 mana for an extra card draw each turn. If more card draw on combat is what you want play Tymna the Weaver or just Dark Confidant for an extra without combat. With a fair amount of draw and mana rocks casting oloro shouldn't be too hard, but he is one of the less impactful cards other than the lifegain you get regardless. They also have a low average cmc so they should easily be able to cast their spells very reliably. With more cheap counterspells in a cedh meta you can sit back and stop what is going to kill you and you are set up to go in on a counter war to get your stuff through.

GhostChieftain Right! In that case I agree with you, if the deck is pushing towards cEDH Yennett doesn't do enough then! Is a super good card... in casual tables. In cEDH it draws too little too late.

Now, if cEDH is the way this deck is pushing I would also get other pieces to make it faster. What I mean is, something like Linvala, Keeper of Silence is really good, but if the plan is to cast in turn 4 it might be way too late. I would cut stuff that is either too narrow, too mana intensive or too inconsistent or unreliable, like Sun Titan, Dimir Doppelganger, Mirage Mirror and Unmake. Strangely enough, by my experience Cryptic Command is too expensive and hard to cast most of the time, specially with 3 colours!

In exchange I would add fast mana like Mana Vault, Grim Monolith and Chrome Mox. And other staples like Windfall and Timetwister (availability or budget permitting). Casting a Windfall on turn 1 with 3 or 4 mana on the battlefield is bonkers! Or with a Narset, Parter of Veils!

As a final note, I would consider switching the most expensive ways to draw cards and add some cheaper ones. Like switching Esper Charm and Sphinx's Revelation for Ponder, Preordain and/or Brainstorm.

Total agreement there

Is this deck paper? Cool deck. I've always wanted to make a good oloro deck, and you seem to be rocking it!

NinjaBunny01 says... #13

Thanks! Yes, this deck is paper and I have the versions of the cards listed for the most part. Oloro has been my favorite commander since it was spoiled. I'm pretty happy with the deck currently.

+1, I would hate to play against this deck with anything casual, but man it looks soooo fun to pilot. Grand Abolisher and Rebuff the Wicked both have great flavor for this kind of build, they both kind of say "your peasant threats amuse me" lol

Thanks! It has been in the works for a while. I like the idea of Rebuff the Wicked, Grand Abolisher was in my "sideboard" as a potential swap for awhile. There are just so many 2 drop white hate bears that it was kind of pushed out. Would be great as a flavor card for sure.

Hullbreacher would be a great addition. I would drop a land for it. I still think 36 is more than you really need.

Silence could be another good add both as a defensive spell effectively stopping someones win or to protect your own.

Hullbreacher is definitely going in once I get a copy. I will playtest the Silence when I can. Thanks for the suggestions!

This deck is great but you should use Render Silent and Absorb .

Undermine is also a good counter.

At one point I had almost all of those cards in the deck. I found them to be slower than other counterspells. I may reconsider them in the future. Thanks for the suggestions though!

Hello NinjaBunny01, So any thoughts on the new Forgotten Realms set in regards to this deck?

Hi blpace! Thanks for the comment! As of now, no. I am still going through it with other decks in mind and nothing really sticks out for this deck.

Man nice build! I started building a more staxchantress style utilizing creature hate as a sub-theme while building around the life gain theme. It's still a work in progress but looks fun!
