Thank you to Nishingo for pointing out Liliana's Specter and Mimic Vat combo. Check out Nishingo's discard deck Liliana's Inquisitor.
ABOUT THE DECK: This deck uses mono black discard control. It amplifies the discard package by adding the fabled discard-damage win condition. I am going to try it for FNM. Let me know what you think. It is at 62 cards right now...
Current problematic issues for heavy or straight up discard style decks is 1) unless you can stack damaging enchantments quickly and make them stick, you are not winning, and therefore vulnerable. 2) your opponent will likely not have any cards in hand to discard, thus making discard spells that you possess useless. This also makes your discard-damage enchantments useless as well.
So I have corrected these issues by capitalizing on lock-down; rounded out discard-damage package rather than relying on just Liliana's Caress; slight ramp; beat-stick alt win-con.
The best situation for this deck is a quick gutting of the opponent's hand in conjunction with or followed by stacking quests or enchantments. It does not matter if the enchantments happen after a few discards. The goal is to lock down with tumble magnet and liliana's specter on a mimic vat. Memoricide or Haunting Echoes as needed either before or after the specter comes out. You will be exiling as many instant spells as possible. This allows for a vatted Liliana's Specter to hit the battlefield at the end of the opponent's draw step to try and eliminate the possibility for an instant response.
If any of this fails, you are hopefully also ramping into a Grave Titan or Massacre Wurm with a Mimic Vat available.
Gatekeeper exists to add removal if needed.
The sideboard really just represents a more aggro swap out plus removal.
