Chrome Mox is never a bad choice. (I don't own it, yet, though). With a perfect starting hand you can cast Burgeoning turn 1 and have 4 mana on start of turn 2, enabling to play Omnath and generating two landfall triggers with a fetch. Sounds sexy, as well ;)

Mox Diamond might be even better, even if it robs you of one landfall trigger...

unwucht, Burgeoning would be my next choice due to the land synergies and with a bounce land and Omnath, Locus of Creation in play, will at least give us 4 life on our opponents turn. A reason I cut it before was because I'd be at the mercy of top decking for that fourth land to get Omnath out that I didn't see it being a faster way to getting the cast before T4.

I agree that Mox Diamond is the better option. But there are only 35 lands, I just worry about an opening hand that has 3 lands with the mox and having to discard a land for it to be in play and stressing a top deck draw of a land, if there is no other ramp. At the same time, Chrome Mox being limited to only producing mana from the identity of the imprint, could mana screw us from an early Omnath cast as well. It just boils down to which risk for reward that you want to take.

I agree. Burgeoning it is, then, for you as well :) I work on a version of this deck as well. But due to not owning original dual lands, yet, I will have to make some concessions. Probably going to implement some battle lands, instead.

This comment might take some heat from the collectors and sellers out there, but I am one of those who are in favor of eliminating the reserve list and reprinting those dual lands. I feel like everyone should have access to them at an affordable price. But that’s my stance in general, staples should be at a more affordable price. Unaffordable cards are why there are so many fakes in circulation and there are people who wonder why that is. I guess my opinions on it are more biased because I have fallen victim to purchasing fakes out there in the market and it’s irritating.

Anyway, now that I am done ranting. Battle lands are good options for substitutes. Now there will be room for Command Tower too or things like Mana Confluence, City of Brass, Exotic Orchard, horizon lands, other pain lands. Also, makes room for Prismatic Vista and one of each of the four basic snow lands.

I agree with you that the reserved list is a bad idea for the game itself. It is legal concession to WoC not being sued by collectors. Be it as it may be, I am not a big fan of proxy cards. My playgroup agreed to only accept proxies for cards already being purchased but not availble, yet, and I think this is an acceptable stance. But on the other hand, we are not into cEDH, so it does not make a big difference for us anyhow. Most cEDH players gladly accept proxies to eliminate money as an influence on who is going to win. That is a fair approach, as well.

My personal goal in this deck is to have as many fetchable lands as possible. Therefore I would probably abstain from orchard, confluence and city of brass. I never considered using snow lands for these purposes, but having 5 basic lands as well as 5 basic snow lands is an excellent idea!

Another budget solution for this deck might be the fetchable slow cycling duals like Irrigated Farmland. Might slow you down early-game but if you need to fill the land slots it might be considered to replace one or two basics with them.

On another topic, I am still not pleased with the draw situation. I’m a fan of Ghostly Flicker in the deck, but without Dualcaster Mage as a combo piece with it, it just seems like it is replaceable. It’s not like we don’t have other flicker effects in here or creature tutors to grab Deadeye Navigator or Emiel the Blessed if needed. So I’m think either bringing back Wheel of Fortune, Pull from Tomorrow or Shamanic Revelation. Thoughts?

There is Worldly Tutor and Eladamri's Call to fetch Deadeye Navigator and Emiel the Blessed. You might integrate a Mystical Tutor to grab Ghostly Flicker, though.

Retreat to Coralhelm might be expendable card.

Draw was another topic concerning me, so I was considering to integrate a few more draw-x cards. I will have to await until the cards I am still missing will arrive and I did some play testingg to decide upon the issue, though.

So, with your testing you recommend an x cost draw. Then I’ll start myself off with adding Pull from Tomorrow and swap it out for a different draw spell if I’m not feeling it.

Burgeoning is an auto-include. Turn 1 plus a grip of lands can be back-breaking.

If anyone is curious, here's where my current build is sitting and seems to be running great at the moment: Omnath, Locus of Creation

rkjunior, did you ever get around to trying out Lithoform Engine?

October 2, 2020 5:26 p.m.

rkjunior says... #14

I haven't added it yet but if I do, I'll swap it from Akroma's Memorial.

Retreat to Coralhelm might get cut for a wheel effect like Timetwister, Wheel of Fortune, or Time Spiral

Arzais, I’m glad you enjoy the list! I owe it all to the great people of this community who have provided their expertise and feedback for the outcome of this deck.

As much as I enjoy having Spark Double in the deck, I’m contemplating removing it. What is everyone’s thoughts on adding either Maelstrom Wanderer or Cavalier of Flame? Both provide haste which is a big upside to our tokens. Cavalier can wheel what we don’t want. Cascade, cascade for advantage.

unwucht says... #18

Personally I love having Spark Double in. If you want to replace it by any means, I would go for Maelstrom Wanderer as the triple red pip of Cavalier of Flame might be kind of difficult to get.

unwucht says... #19

4cmc Spark Double is of course easier to hit than 5CMC Cavalier or 8CMC Maelstrom Wanderer.

Starsky2814 says... #20

Very true. I was just looking at trying to add haste on a stick, but were also elementals so that they share synergies with the build. I’ve been feeling like we need some sort of haste enabler for all the tokens that are produced outside from Akroma's Memorial. I might look at another cut, but I would like to at least see if the haste is noticeable or even needed.

If you're going to add a big threat, add an Eldrazi. Ideally one that provides mill protection but is also a bomb. We tend to have a large amount of mana very quickly so being able to cast it will be a non-issue. I'm leaning towards Kozilek, Butcher of Truth

Starsky2814 If you really want haste look into cheaper alternatives like Fervor or Fires of Yavimaya Anger oh even Samut, Voice of Dissent

Hey! Really like the deck as a Fellow Omnath and Horde of Notions Player. Since you're running a few flicker effects have you considered running Worldgorger Dragon or Realm Razer? Worldgorger is definitely the better combo piece but resetting your manabase with Realm Razer while Amulet of Vigor is out, the Valakut kill potential or my personal favourite Tunnel Ignus so that your opponents get burned by their own lands are all fun options. Also Manabond lets you dump lands before Song of Creation discards them if you want the extra triggers. Omnath, Locus of the Roil lets you redraw a new hand off Manabond and can do so after the Song discard too. Just some idea's that i'm playing around with for my own deck, thought you might like them as well.

Jensu08 I personally prefer Rhythm of the Wild over Fires of Yavimaya, but both are good options and less CMC than Spark Double.

Of course, Rhythm of the Wild will not synergy well with our token strategy...
