Hey Spartansean765, thanks for the update! I might give it a try at some point and swap out Lithoform Engine for it.

Regarding cuts: Armageddon might be cut. I would not cut another card draw spell, tbh.

Honestly I would cut Armageddon as well, because if for no other reason than once your meta knows it's in your deck you likely to be Archenemy every single time you sit down with the deck.
Also while Helm of the Host is cool, I personally think you'd be better off with another piece of interaction instead of needing interaction to protect a board piece that requires 9 mana being spent on it before it's any good.

Metachemist, Good to hear from you again. By unanimous decision, Armageddon is out and the adjustments have been made. There hasn’t been any final call on adding Helm of the Host. That’s just something I’d add to shake things up a bit for fun, but everything is set as is.
I’m not a “Standard” player, but tough luck for the big guy, Omnath, Locus of Creation, for getting hit with the ban stick in a few formats. I’d be devastated if they took this brute away from me.

UpperDeckerTaco, No, not in this one. I didn’t want to build around a Food Chain combo deck and it be frowned upon with my buddies. My playgroup considers Food Chain combo decks as degenerate builds that lack creativity and fun. Because the guys feel that way is the reason why I got rid of my General Tazri and my Omnath, Locus of the Roil - Food Chain builds. The combo would definitely gear the deck closer towards being competitive. It just wasn’t what I was trying to accomplish here, but if anyone’s goal is to build around cEDH then I’d recommend building that way.

Well said! I greatly appreciate you taking the time to throughly explain those reasonings.

Starsky2814 I appreciate going towards a non-cEDH route instead of trying to fully pimp this list towards competitiveness! This way, this deck will keep an own characteristic and not just run the same cards, all other cEDH decks do! I like your playgroup's approach!

Starsky2814 I have to agree with unwucht, having this deck not be tiered towards cEDH makes it have such a fun feel without the need to 'Go off' as quickly as possible. It definitely can have early game threats, but with focused removal and maybe a board wipe or two, this deck can be slowed just like any other. It's why I prefer this build and have been almost obsessed with building it on paper myself.

WelshGuitarist, I definitely agree! My goal was to build something that I was going to have a blast piloting and because of all those who have contributed their thoughts and feedback, they have made this deck just that for me.
unwucht, I used to be all about building competitively, but my playgroup got tired of it fast and weren’t wanting to even play if I were involved. So I had to change my approach and who would have thought I would have so much more fun with that change.
Arzais, no problem! I was hoping what I said wasn’t going to come off the wrong way and come off as I was bashing the combo, because I’m not. Like I said, my meta doesn’t condone that combo, but my meta isn’t everyone’s meta. So if someone wants to build around Food Chain then I happily support it.

I've played 10-12 pods on MTGO with this deck and I've won every one of them. More spot removal would be nice but I haven't missed it, but the deck is susceptible to disruption. In my eyes it's such a tight list as it stands now. I might make room for a Mystical Tutor since you can get your draw, spot removal, etc.

Also, I'd personally lean towards Path to Exile over Swords to Plowshares for the sheer fact you could potentially path your own creature/token to trigger Omnath, if needed.
October 13, 2020 10:49 a.m.
rkjunior yeah, we implemented that Mystical Tutor a while ago.

rkjunior That's the big brain with Path to be honest. Hadn't even thought of that.
Starsky2814 I get your group's approach, mine used to have kinda a similar one a while back. However whawt we did do to kinda bleed off the "Spike" steam was allow fully proxied (if need be) cEDH level decks so everyone had one. BUT the group has to agree that's the sort of game we are gonna play before anyone breaks out the big guns.

I’d like to know if we have seen Parcelbeast perform well, if we have seen him at all yet, for those who play the deck rn.
October 13, 2020 3:44 p.m.
Parcelbeast is a powerhouse. The idea is to mutate it on Scute Swarm. You have bigger bodies than 1/1s and in addition they trigger your Risen Reef and can tap for similar effects to fish for additional landfall triggers. It is insane.

rkjunior, thanks for the updates on your games. That is fantastic that the deck is performing so well! I’m so excited to meet up with my buddies and blow them away.
Metachemist, unfortunately my playgroup does not accept proxy play. We all have quite a few big gun decks, so those do get play time, just not as often.
CoolCat7271, I couldn’t have said it better myself from what unwucht already mentioned. Parcelbeast + Scute Swarm is nuts. I’ve loved what those two bring to the deck that I’ve somewhat have even considered adding Sea-Dasher Octopus, for more mutate.

Alright!^^ definitely onboard the Parcelbeast train when you describe it like that! Currently putting the pieces together to play with my group, so I’ll be actively commenting!

Part of me is considering removing Amulet of vigor and the 3 bounce lands for additional Fetches. Thoughts?
October 14, 2020 1:34 p.m.
rkjunior ain't the 10 fetches already in this list? Amulet of Vigor and especially the bounce lands have worked miracles for me. Especially when you have the bounce lands with an amulet out. And even if you don't, the bounce lands can bounce themselves and generate additional landfall triggers. I personally decided to keep them in.
October 14, 2020 1:54 p.m.
They are but was considering Fabled Passage and Prismatic Vista... Maybe there aren't enough basics to warrant it.

rkjunior, I agree with unwucht. Having Amulet of Vigor provides tons of value after Scapeshifting or Nahiri's Lithoforming. I’ve been able to get early Omnath, Locus of Creation casts from having the amulet and a bounce land by reaping from the two mana and bouncing itself. It might not be completely necessary to have three bounce lands, but I like having them around because I still run Retreat to Coralhelm and Sakura-Tribe Scout for the infinite landfall triggers with a bounce land. You answered the reason why I didn’t ever add Prismatic Vista and Fabled Passage, not enough basics to warrant them.

So as an update on Helm of the Host, it does get targeted pretty quickly, but I run a pretty fair amount of interaction and have been able to keep it round for a few turns on several occasions and it’s pretty stupid. Just imagine four omnaths running while I’m popping 2/3 fetch lands a turn.
