Looking to start out in Commander, then Omnath, the locus of mana is easy and fun to play.

Of the EDH decks I have worked on my sons Omnath deck is the very competitive. Basically, this deck ramps mana to play big nasty green creatures and Eldrazi's. What really makes it competitive is the ability for grave recursion, draw and library search, without which the deck would fall to board wipes.

I do have to give credit to Salon at Bad Moons Gaming for providing original deck we built off when we first started playing Commander. We have changed out about 30% of the cards to what is now a very competitive deck in every match it's played.

Ramp SpellsBoundless Realm ,Caged Sun ,Extraplanar Lens used with Snow Covered Forest so only you get the ramp ,Skyshroud Claim , Seek the Horizon , Sword of Feast and Famine , Primal Growth , Cultivate , Doubling Cube , Sol Ring , Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger loved by Green mana decks hated by all others,

Deck vulnerabilities Cloudthresher Is the only spell protection from fliers in this deck. However this usually is not a problem when you can attack on turn 5 or 6 with Eldrazi and other Big meanies.

Any spells that prevent draw or library search such as Notion Thief would severely slow the deck down allowing opponents to get to win conditions before you can hurt them enough.

This deck has few responses to artifacts and enchantments relying on Acidic Slime , Spine of Ish Sah , Krosan Grip and Terastodon.

Spells like Iona, Shield of Emeria usually mean scoop.

Key Spells for VictoryPraetor's Counsel especially when Myojin of Life's Web is on the battlefield.Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger when opponents have no response in hand for two turns.
